I have a 2022 Ram 2500 Laramie with the included digital tow mode camera. When I went to connect it the auxiliary camera option shows a blue screen. I played with every scenario possible. Then left my truck at the dealer for 9 days. They honestly did not know how it worked. I new more about it them then when dropping the truck off. They made a star case. Dealing with Star they feel the camera is bad but no camera is available to order for warranty. Has anyone had a similar experience? I am pretty disappointed as this option was the only reason I wanted the digital rear view mirror. I have a camper shell on order so the brake light camera will be useless.

I'm confused.

You seem to be mixing the CVPM (4-camera trailer surround on dash screen) with the Digital Tow (digital mirror display) camera options.

Which is it?

The "AUX" camera #2 doesn't show with CVPM. The pre-22 (UC4) trucks had analog AUX1 and AUX2 cameras.

The Digital Tow mode (mirror) camera doesn't display on the dash, it displays in the digital mirror.

As to the digital CHMSL rear view mirror camera and topper, it can be relocated with some cable and a housing.

It is the digital tow mode camera. My understanding is when the camera was plugged in to the coax connector on the rear left of the license plate it would automatically display on the rear view mirror. I did not explain that very well. It shows camera not available in the rear view when the camera is attached.. Also my truck came with the 12 pin connector on the top right. I did not expect the truck to have that installed. Does that mean I can install the trailer surround cameras if I can find them available? As far as the truck topper relocating the camera do you know of a clean way to relocate it? I am very mechanical and savy to wiring but I do not see a clean way to relocate the camera without chancing water migration. I am all ears if you have a good idea. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

Yes, the Coax digital tow mode camera should show in the digital rear view mirror. The tech notes regarding "AUX" camera are confusing.

If your truck has 360° surround, it has the 12-pin trailer prep at the bumper. If you have 5th wheel prep, it's also in the bed and connected there (only one connection at a time even with two plugs).

Once (if ever) the parts are available other than factory order with a truck, you can add it. There's also a big 2022 camera options thread here (below).

Look for a well documented thread by @Patriot Motor Sports USA and there may be others on relocating the camera.

Mine doesn’t work through the digital rear view mirror either. I plug it in, try to switch to that camera using the settings buttons on the mirror, and it displays an icon that suggests a trailer isn’t connected.

Is the trailer connected? Or just the camera? Maybe the truck is smarter than the average bear and won't display the image until it sees a connection to the 7 pin.

I tried it both ways and no luck. I’m going to give it one more shot before going to a dealer.

Following. The digital mirror with trailer cam was one of my must have options. Hoping they aren't sending these things out in an inoperable state.

I had my truck in the dealer for 8 days for them to tell me either the camera or the module inline is bad. They have no extra parts at this time and have no idea when they will become available. So basically there is nothing they can do. I have not had time to pursue anything with Ram but I doubt that they will do anything.

Brought mine to the dealer. There are no fault codes so they don’t know what to do.

I shared with them the video a member posted on a another thread tracing the wiring and finding a loose connector. The tech found it helpful, but wasn’t willing to spend hours taking the truck apart without a fault code indicating an open circuit.

I’m going to see if the service department manager can talk to Ram to figure out what they can do under warranty.

Explain to the tech that the digital rear view mirror doesn’t store faults for a scan tool to see. Scan tools only read faults from modules that are on the canbus network. The mirror display is on the linbus network, therefore it can’t be connected to.
This is the fault that is telling you there is an open circuit in the camera line:

Thanks @Jimmy07 . I chatted with the service manager, and they found a loose connector somewhere between the mirror and bumper. Works fine now.

@mixolydian12 Long time since this thread, but I am having the same issue with my trailer camera on my 2022 Ram 3500 Limited. Do you know what connector the tech found loose by chance?
