hey all, here is a rough drawing of what I am trying to do. 2025 ram 3500 base truck. no power at the rear-view mirror. I have acquired the part numbers and are trying to test it out before installing in the truck. so far as shown in my drawing I have not got anything to come on the DRVM. am I missing something as far as how I am trying to test it. I assume you give 12 volt power to the mirror and 12 volt power to the camera module. the plan would be once confirmed it works , install and get the power for both the camera processor and the DRVM from a tap into the cigarette lighter on the top radio bezel. I am not that savvy on electrical stuff but get lucky sometimes. any thoughts would be appreciated good and bad. thanks PS. on the camera processor module the wires for the power to the module I have the two orange wires tied together receiving 12 volts +. The two white wires tied together receiving 12 volt -.

The mirror needs linbus to be able to turn on. Did you not originally have a mirror that was plugged into a connector?

Meaning the cameras used by the 12 pin plug at the back? I could, but from what I've seen they're analog with low quality, and high price. Unless I'm mistaken, I couldn't use an aftermarket digital camera.

Anyone know if you could swap the 3rd brake light from the Tow Mode package for a Cargo Cam 3rd brake light and be able to plug the "rear camera" cable into the cargo cam?
Cargo cam wasn't an available option on my build, but I want it and don't need the "rear view cam". They're holding cargo cam hostage in 2025, only offering it with 12"+ screens for some reason.
2 of my ideas are either to swap in a Cargo Cam 3rd brake light and just plug into that, or 3D print/machine a shim for the Rear Cam so it aims down at my gooseneck ball.
3rd idea is maybe there will be an option eventually...

No. All i have is just your basic mirror. No power cord for it. I have ordered a header harness that says fits my truck with the cab lights that i am going to investigate. Is the linbus a module that maybe already on the truck?

Yo do not have a digital mirror? That has a connection for the cord that runs back to the camera. There is a second connection where your OLD mirror was plugged in to the truck...hopefully..

The mirror will not work until its plugged in the connector that your OLD mirror was connected to ...

I also have a 2025 and want to add the digital rearview mirror. Has anyone successfully added the DRVM to a 2025+? I am reluctant to try it without knowing how to install/ wire the camera processor module under the seat. I read a long thread on 5th gen Ram forum by Jimmy07 about using alfaobd to program the 2025+ trucks that makes it sound complicated (but possible) to reprogram autodim, etc. to work after adding a DRVM. I will probably wait to try it until I hear from someone who has done it successfuly.

can a single linbus be made just to get the mirror to work, not tying it into the trucks system. not sure what the linbus is or what it does. is it possible to be separate from the trucks computer system?

The linbus is a communication circuit connected to the truck’s computer.
