Digital Rear View Mirror

Tried to find your post with info re: ordering this MIRROR + CABLE set-up from you. Can't find anything. Could you pm me?
He was selling it on the 5thgenrams.com site..... Not here and he sold it!

I wanted to update everyone on the Fakra Cable 8ft extension I made for my 2021 RAM 3500 MegaCab Limited.

This morning I did a YouTube Livestream video of me testing the cable, then taping it to the tailgate and also testing the pan feature. Everything worked perfectly!!! I had no video degradation or image quality loss at all!! Please Subscribe to my YouTube Channel and hit the Notification Bell so you can see updates as I will now make one a bit longer as well as have a composite "SharkFin" made up at my friend's surfboard shop so I can mount the camera a bit higher on the ARE Topper Shell for a "SkyView" of the boats I haul. As I say in the video... sometimes the Radar Arch or T-Top clearance is so CLOSE to the trees and overpasses. This new setup will be invaluable!!

I called my dealer last week to see if the Mopar harness was available and was told it was on National Backorder. Does anyone know the length of that cable system? I will order a spool of cable and bulk order the connectors to make these in AMERICA!!! LMK!!

So after all this discussion and brave volunteers, did anyone get to the point they could answer: Is it possible to add the digital rearview mirror on a 2019 (A 3500 with tow/tech package, if that matters)?

A million dollar question. If there is an answer, I would love to hear it.

Interesting to see that the NHTSA is a bit behind the manufacturers: Feds to study use of cameras instead of traditional rearview mirrors.

I'm rather liking the digital mirror in my 3500. It presents almost exactly the same view as in normal "mirror" mode, just without any vehicle or passenger obstructions. Really looking forward to piping in trailer video at some point.
Good they are looking into them, albeit rather late. I for one cannot see them replacing traditional mirrors for people who use reading glasses. I test drove a 3500 with the digital rear view mirror and it's a huge No Way! for me. I am only a +1.50-2.00 for readers so not a strong Rx. I don't mind slightly fuzzy gauges, radio, backup camera, etc, but the rear view being blurry, or side mirrors if they tried that, is a huge safety concern for me. Since the screen is arms length roughly and your eyes are focusing on pixels versus reflections in a mirror, it's all fuzzy, even the cars far away which would normally not be fuzzy in a regulator mirror since you have depth of field.

The digital mirror's ability to remove the interior obstructions is a big plus in many cases, but there are cases where that's offset and maybe even made worse. Glad it's something I can turn off and just use the normal mirror. Assuming I get a new HD truck with it one day.

Maybe they can create the depth of field with a digital screen. That'd be cool. Or maybe it already exists?

I'm getting ready to order a '22 Big Horn and don't see mention of the digital mirror anywhere. Is it part of a package? I'd REALLY like to have a camera on the back of my trailer that is hooked to the digital mirror to run all the time.
I'm ordering the Towing Group B -
  • Mirror-Mounted Auxiliary Reverse Lamps
  • Power Adjustable Convex Aux Mirrors
  • Center Stop Lamp with Cargo View Camera
  • Power-Heated Trailer Mirrors with Power Fold-Away
  • Power-Folding Mirrors
  • Surround-View Camera System
  • Trailer Reverse Guidance
As well as the Trailer Camera Wiring package (which I honestly have no idea what it does other than it's description) as I assume it'll make it simple to add a trailer camera to the back of the trailer?
If it makes a difference, I'll have the Level 1 group as well, plus the TTPMS.
  • 18-Inch x 8.0-Inch Polished Aluminum Wheels
  • 2nd-Row In-Floor Storage Bins
  • Cloth 40 / 20 / 40 Premium Bench Seat
  • Cluster 3.5-Inch TFT Color Display
  • Dual Glove Boxes
  • Door Trim Panel Foam Bottle Insert
  • Footwell Courtesy Lamp
  • Front Fog Lamps
  • Glove Box Lamp
  • "Big Horn" Instrument Panel Badge
  • Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
  • Locking Lower Glove Box
  • Power Black Trailer-Tow Mirrors w/ Fold-Away & Heat
  • Power Adjustable Pedals
  • Power-Folding Mirrors
  • Rear Dome Lamp with On/Off Switch
  • Automatic-Dimming Rear-View Mirror
  • Steering-Wheel-Mounted Audio Controls
  • Sun Visors with Illuminated Vanity Mirrors
  • Uconnect® 4 with 8.4-Inch Display

..Any guidance appreciated!

Mine was included in the Safety Group on my 2021.

AFAIK, Digital Mirror is only connected to the second CHMSL rear view camera, the trailer cameras are still in the radio and not viewable for more than 10 secs without adding aftermarket (NAViKS).

Per the info Ram gave out at the 2021 virtual NTEA work truck show, for 2022 the digital rear view mirror will allow for an optional trailer camera input that can be viewed while driving. Called Tow Mode.

The 1500s get all the cool stuff!

Do you have a source for that statement? It's not in the TFB article that I can find, which is where I got the image. I've read that article 20 times since it was released and don't see that.

1500 will get the trailer reverse steering tech, don't think that's coming to the HD trucks.
1500s have trailer steering right now for 2021MY. It is a LOT easier to set up than the Ford system, too. No measurements to take, just hook up the trailer and drive making a few left and right turns. What’s puzzling is, it was introduced on the TRX of all models.

I would not expect HDs to get the fancy trailer steering add-on until maybe the 5th gen cab update.

Jimmy beat me to the punch on showing the slide for the dual camera option

I already have 360 trailer camera view. Works below 40MPH. Times out at 22 minutes.

I do wish we could get that review mirror to work on the 2019-2020 trucks,

This is awesome... I'm hoping maybe once this is released that there will be a retrofit that will work on the 2021's. I'm trying to figure out a way right now to re-locate the rearview camera input so that I can install a camera on the back of my camper shell, and have it display continuously on my mirror the way my CHMSL does now.
