Hey y’all
I know a lot of people talk to or have bought from Dennis Dillon. Thought I’d give my 2 cents for anyone considering purchasing from them.
We bought our Ram 2500 almost 6 weeks ago, the process was smooth until we picked up the truck. They weren’t prepared, unorganized and absolutely sleezy. They sold a truck out from a couple next to us and if we weren’t 800 miles from home I would have walked out.
To top it off, we just found out they never mailed our registration to the DMV. We called them and they stated that COVID has slowed them down. It didn’t slow them down from taking our money. Instead of being honest and stating they forgot to send it in they told us we were lucky they were working on it and it usually takes months for other people.
I understand getting the best price for a truck, I just hope this helps some people with expectation management when considering Dennis Dillon.

It’s also probably worth nothing that in order to secure their best advertised price, you are required to put no more than $10k down on a purchase. They ask that you maintain the loan for at least 6 months before refinancing, but most folks seem to do it immediately after making the first payment.

I've bought multiple trucks from them and never had any issues. The 10k limit is a Chrysler Capital thing, but it did not make any difference to the price when I told them I wanted to put more down. I just couldn't use Chrysler Capital.

In 2017 I bought my 2018 recon from Dennis Dillon and it was a good experience. I tried buying my 2020 power wagon from them this past August and they changed. They would not allow full payment or a large down payments. The only way to get their best deal was small down payment and use their financing which was bank of america and was not competitive to my credit union. Ultimately my local dealership beat their price and let me use my own financing. Dave Smith also would allow full payment but due to covid were not discounting like in the past.

Same experience I had. I have top tier credit, and they refused to disclose interest rates to me. I got “the rates are likely to change between today and when your truck is delivered” and “We can’t provide an interest rate until we run a credit report.”
Told them “Fine, run the report”

“Oh, we can’t do that until you are ready to buy a vehicle.”

I offered to sign something stating I understood these were the current rates, but would not necessarily be MY rate. Still no luck.

More hassle than it’s worth, when my local dealer would match the price, didn’t care about the down payment, and let me bring my own financing to the table

It is unfortunate, same scenario and reasons (excuses). I put my foot in the water but I will never jump in with Dennis Dillon. What bothers me is their sales could be the most trouble free purchases ever but they make it difficult on everyone.

I bought my 2015 from them..good experience till I starting dealing with the finance manager. I done ran my credit thru Chrysler before flying down they gave me a an interest rate..which was good as I have excellent credit. He came up with one that was 1 or 2% higher (can’t remember exactly) Didn’t like it but made the deal as I was 2500 miles from home. Come to find out that goes into their pockets...one of the ways they can offer discounted prices...they make it up that way and all the other BS they try and sell you. I left was down the road a few hundred miles and discovered I hadn’t given them their $10,000 check..I called them and had some fun with that..they were definitely panicking...don’t know if I would deal with them again. At the time they had better prices than Dave Smith

I had the best experience with Dillon and the worst with Smith. While I didn't end up buying from Dillon they were upfront with all the data, pricings and percentages and submitted it to me an email.

My neighbor did buy from Dillon and said it was the best service and easiest transaction than all the Smith purchases he had in the past.

I think you need to be ready to walk out the door if negotiations don’t go your way..that’s at all dealerships..but when your 2500 miles from home they kinda got you over a barrel..that’s why I bought my 2020 local

I've found that all the Mopar dealers are comparative in price in this area thanks to Dave Smith

Thats why you make the deal first then you can back out anytime they say something stupid

Dillion and dave keeps the price competive especially in the region, lithia in montana did my deal and was flawless and cheap. Anyone need contact info pm me, best vehicle purchase i ever made, hell i wanted to argue but was no need..lol

I think these dealers are figuring out they can sell a lot of them for a little profit or few for a lot of profit. There real $ comes from service and add ons and quanity helps that also.

I have bought from both Dennis Dillon and Dave Smith. both times I bought from Dave smith it was seamless. No hassle everything was prearranged on the phone basically drive up and sign the paper work no trying to sell stuff I did not want etc in and out. In November of 2017 I bought a new jeep Wrangler recon and Dennis Dillon beat Dave Smith's price by a fair amount so I drove to Caldwell and made the deal over the phone and put the required $1000 dennis dillon payment down for them to hold the vehicle. My CU has the best rates and already made arrangements with them and Dennis Dillon wanted me to use their bank and eventually came down to match my CU price so I did use them and they initially balked at putting over 1/2 down but finally agreed. All and all it was a good experience. This time when I was buying my PW they flat out said no large downs and 100% had to use their financing which was BoA which I hate.. i reminded them I had purchased thru them before and they let me put a large down payment down and they said that they no longer did that. they said only way to get the low price was to only put 10% down and finance thru their lender. I called Dave Smith and they said i could just pay cash and still get their best deal but due to Covid they were not getting the incentives that they had in the past from FCA so the deal was still not as good as my local dealer (Lithia) would do
