We drove 90 minutes to a dealer today that was advertising a truck that checked off most of the boxes. It was marked down $6600 off the MSRP of $78,775. When we got there, I could tell right away it had been used. Turns out the truck had 6,000 miles on it. Their first offer they came back with was at full MSRP plus their BS charges of $3900 for GPS tracker, nitrogen in tires etc. Obviously they didn't know we saw the ad. We walked out when they wouldn't budge off the advertised price of 72K. So how much off MSRP do you think a demo should go for?

I agree with with the group consensus. It's not like its been used to test drive around the lot, that baby is pure and simple a used vehicle. First, you did the right thing by walking out. Second, before you go to physically check it out, do all your research online and also call the dealership and ask them every question in the book to see what matches up with what you have read online to get a feel of there honesty. Third and final point. You can get a new vehicle for 15-19% off msrp, I believe that 15% off a used vehicle msrp is the bare bones minimum. My minimum would be at 20% off msrp. I would start at 25% off msrp and let them talk me down to 20-22 % off msrp. Your in the driver's seat, do not settle, they need you really bad right now during these times. You'll find the one

Right now, it's a seller's market in many areas. Inventory is low. No dates on replenishment of dealer stock.

i would take atlest 20-25 percent off. i bought a 19 new with 300km from transport (dealership trade) and got almost 25 percent off of that..

I’m with Rich, I paid a little under 15% off MSRP for a brand new truck with a mile or two on it.

I was surprised they didn't say it was a demo online. I guess I shouldn't be, they are car dealers. The dealers around here are claiming low inventory and aren't budging on the prices much. Of course they're not telling when new inventory will arrive either. I have never ordered a truck. Are the dealers willing to deal when ordering a truck? Maybe I should do that instead.

I never had either, this was my first time. It was stressful but very satisfying to build your own design and get just what you want. In my personal experience, my dealer was willing to deal but I kind of broke them down over a 5 month period. I was in no hurry to pull the trigger and I believe thats what got me a great deal and the key to getting a great deal. Remember the ram build and price tool is the msrp and you should be able to get 15,000 of of that if you stick with it and keep pressuring your dealer. Remember let them know your in no hurry and you have a set budget and are willing to wait for what you want. It was 100% worth it for me, even though there were a few days or more were I mentally lost it, Which I'm sure my brethren can attest to,

They should be and really, if you spec the truck build, that is the easiest way to shop it around and make the dealers compete for your business. Dealers like to use the excuse that their truck has more features and they just can’t remove them, thus a higher ask price. If you spec it, youavoid that con job.

I agree. I was able to take my build and shop around different dealerships when they tought they were gonna play hardball with me. Eventually they caved and didn't want to lose a big sale. You do have the underhand, just don't be in a rush if you don't need to be

Do they still try to charge you for dealer add-ons like the nitrogen filled tires and protective coatings? Seems they wouldn't be able to pull that BS on an ordered truck.

That never happened to me except they tried to sell me all the extra warranty coverage, and I just told him to save your breath. I handled my whole deal (until pick up) over emailing my sm. We got it exactly how I wanted it on a sales sheet and we went back and forth a few times on price as you would expect. I just held my ground that I wasnt spending over 69,999 and they kept up with well then were going to have to take options off, I said nope this is what I have to have for what I have to have it for. Got an 85k rig for 69870 and full retail price on my trade. Once you walk into the dealership, you lose and they got you. Agree on everything over email and save those emails, you'll need them later I'm sure. I had my sm put down on writing that no matter what that the price would not get worse only better per our sales agreement so that later there was no surprises later. Wich they tried to add $1100 but I had printed up all my emails and broke them out on delivery and doing all the official signing. Also some folks have been asked to put down a small amount of $$$ before they commit to the official build order. You can negotiate this, they just want to know your serious. I paid zero to commit.

also I negotiated for them to put on side steps, Which I agreed to the brand and saved me $700 oon the ram build site. Also negotiated for them to buy the $1400 fiver hitch of wich I only pd 1050 and i had then throw in 3 free oil changes over a 2 yr time. You can do it to. Just take it one step at a time and don't move on until you get it your way. Yes I'm bragging just a bit and most of the group already know my story, but several of them have also been as successful and you can be to if your willing to drag it out and play hard ball. It's stressful but extremely rewarding

3 years ago I bought my 1500 from a dealer. It was a demo driven by the dealer employee. Truck had 8000 miles on it. Windows sticker said around $48,000 for the package I bought it from them for $28,000
