I'm fairly certain this houses the lane departure cameras and has nothing to do with the lights.

Those would be controlled by steering angle.

If you have a Limited and know exactly what sensors are contained in this area please educate me. I am purchasing a Tradesman and I do not have this sensor suite. Does it have anything to do with your LED projector headlights? Thanks in advance!

Its the auto-high beam sensor on my '19 1500

Fully loaded, there’s two different things going on in that frit pattern. There’s a small “window” towards the passenger side that the rain sensor module looks through. Then there’s the “window” for the driver assist system module camera. That camera handles adaptive cruise, forward collision warning, lane sense, and auto high beams.
For trucks that don’t have ACC, FCW, and Lane sense, but DO have auto dim mirror and auto high beams, the windshield frit pattern will be different, and the camera for auto high beams will be part of the rear view mirror.

Hmmm...since my truck is a Tradesman and does not have the auto dim mirror and auto high beams I am wondering if I did upgrade to the projector LEDs with a custom harness if the system would be confused since it would be expecting to also see the auto mirror and high beams? I am not aware of anyone that has completed an upgrade like this and I suspect no one has tested it either. I am guessing worst case there would be a constant malfunction lamp on the dash?

Obviously, I am not an electrical guy, lol. But I really do want to upgrade to LEDs and see where I am driving :)
None of the modules in the windshield have any bearing on any of the three types of headlights. The only thing by the windshield that affects the headlights is the solar sensor (little black bubble on the dash). That is used to determine ambient lighting for when to automatically turn the headlights on. Every trim has that feature.

We can also get a bench seat if we so choose. . Couldn’t get that with the higher two trim options.
This is the only reason I didn't go with the limited on my 1500 and 2500. I had to have a 6 seater...

So your girl could sit right next to you in the middle seat while you were driving? :)

You know us Laramie peasants can get those fancy options too.

So can Tradesmans. There's a common refrain in FB groups that think Tradesmans are all ghetto trims. My buddy has a 2020 Tradesman that MSRPd out at 66k with 20k+ in options ranging from adaptive cruise, to 360 cams, you name it. Nicer truck than many 'a Laramie that scoffs on FB.

That's the beauty of Ram. They'll let you put just about anything on anything.

MSRP for my 2020 Tradesman was almost $64K with towing tech, safety group, and HO plus other options. Some people think I have leather and don't realize seats are vinyl.
