2020 Ram 2500, Cummins, bought new, 38k miles now
About 6 weeks ago I got a CEL for P203F (reductant level low) and P0299 (underboost)
DEF gauge was at about 40% full and the turbos were boosting fine. No driving problems.
I added more DEF and drove about an hour - no change. After reading up on the P203F code and knowing about crystallization of the fluid I bought and added a bottle of Rislone DEF System cleaner.
After about 20 minutes of driving the CEL extinguished! I'm retired and don't drive it every day.
After a few weeks and many drives, probably a couple hundred miles, still no problems. Then a week ago I got a Service DEF System - See Dealer message. No CEL.
So I made an appointment and was on my way there when the dreaded 5mph in 150 miles message came up! Still no CEL. But I'm thinking it's perfect timing since I was on the way to get it looked at.
Ha! Silly me...
Dealer couldn't find anything related to the DEF or 5mph messages! He did say my air filter needed to be replaced for the Underboost error as well as a reflash of some code.
It's still driving fine now. But I really don't want to go anywhere and have that 5mph message get real.
I asked what they'd charge to flush and refill the DEF System and was quoted $510!!! No thanks.
I saw on another thread mention of a 'known issue' with chafing of a wiring harness and will have that checked out soon. Any other thoughts?
If I can't rely on the dealer to be able to identify the source of a problem message that was posted on my way to their shop I don't think I want to keep the truck any longer... But I otherwise love the truck and figured I would own it for a very long time.
