I have a ram 3500 dually 4x4 has only 4800 miles on it and it has the death wobble. Never heard of it before thursday but when it happened to me at about 50 mph and the only way to stop it was to stop the truck

OK, this might sound dumb, but what is a death wobble. Is it when your towing and the trailer wanders behind your truck.

Thanks for the clarification, owned three 2500 HD and happily never experienced this on my trucks. Did have something similar on a couple of grand Cherokees, but it was brake rotor related. Replaced the OEM rotor with a good quality rotor was the cure.

How with all these improvements did they manage to remanufacture the death wobble they fought like hell to get rid of. Makes no sense to me.

Since it's not effecting all trucks off the manufacturing linek, I hesitate to think of it as remanufacturing. Could be something as simple as a UAW worker forgetting to torque a bolt. I'm curious to see what @bronco72 finds out is causing it.

Dropped it of at dealer today hopefully they will fix it. Told the salesman i bought it from and his boss, both said they new about it in the jeeps but said he (salesman) had not heard about it in the duallys. They both said they were going to keep and eye out on it, will see.

@bronco72 - Oh, a bad bracket. There's at least one aftermarket steering box bracket mod for that. Wonder if they fit the 2019s? Thanks for sharing. At least we know it's a problem seen before and easily fixed.

Back from 2 months ago my apologies. I noticed some “slop” or “loose” feeling in the front end lately. With less than 800 miles on the truck I called and made an appointment for inspection.

Also did a couple hours of research and came to the decision of purchasing both the steering stabilizer shock and steering brace.

I will wait to see what if anything the dealer finds. Either way the parts will be upgraded soon.

I do have one related question. Is it common for dealers to have no available courtesy/loaner vehicles? One dealer in the area gave a simple "none available" response and another said they had a "3-4 week wait".

Hi npurdy1112,

Thank you for reaching back out. Please know that loaners are handled at the dealer level. As our dealers are independently owned and operated, each dealer has the ability to determine their own procedure on this matter.

Thanks for the insight.

Dropped the truck off Thursday evening for a Friday 0730 appointment. The service team member said they wont get to looking at the truck till Monday at the earliest. Oh boy.

so shoud i worry about my 2019? i thought this was the older trucks

I would bet that 99% of trucks are just fine.

Lots of trucks gettin More than a little miles on em.

Any SFA truck can have this happen but they beefed up the truck.

Not discounting the others who have experienced it because it’s certainly terrible but don’t let this pull you from a great deal on a 19

Typically it happens when something goes bad or gets loose, and once that front end starts dancing it shakes other stuff loose, so it’s good to get things corrected before you’ve gotta replace more parts. A steering brace fixed my 03 Cummins.
