That would be my preference but I haven't found any great solutions yet that 1. would make a good connection with the weirdly shaped ducting 2. also connect with an aftermarket vent outlet 3. that is flush mounted and will work with ¾" plywood.
AC supply to the rear is the priority, HotBody never asks for heat :D This is her preferred setting for the vehicle climate adjustments.

Purchased directly from their website, they have a 25% off coupon for signing up for their emails which brings the price +/- $10 of anywhere else.
One of the running boards came dented, small enough to live with but why. Purchased back in January and opened to verify all pieces, didn't see the dent until I installed this week, contacted them and they shipped me a replacement and asked me to destroy the old one and send a photo. Great company, glad I purchased from them directly. Had to have taken quite a wack in shipping because they are nice and heavy duty.

I chose the RB20 Original, some don't care for how far they stick out but they fit my needs exactly and will look very appropriate with my flares and tire plans in addition to being a great width for the dog ramp.

Install was very easy, I was expecting nutserts but these come with what they call a T plate, only minor hiccup is the center mount hole on the truck has the inner rocker support closer to the hole so a couple of taps with a rubber mallet to push that one in place. Other than that, maybe 35 minutes total install.

Quick follow up on the running board width: (1) As I mentioned, in addition to a place for myself and the wife to step up, a good base for the dog ramp is important to me.
I have used this ramp for many years on many vehicles, it is the Solvit or Petsafe Ultralite Bi-fold, weighs 10 pounds, supports 150 pounds, 62" length. Normally it comes with anti skid or sandpaper-ish surface, I added carpet using spray adhesive, its quieter this way.

(2) The width is perfect for what I'm doing, if you are not choosing an aggressive offset like me I could see where some people would find them too wide.

Just a minor hiccup to overcome. I can only assume it was the folks at Tirerack when they put the center caps/covers on after mounting and balancing the tires. 2 of 4 wheels had cross threaded cap bolts.
I opted for home delivery and self-install. I contacted Tirerack, they were helpful, wanted me to take into a local tire shop to fix but I just asked for replacement screws and I would tap them myself, they sent them quickly. All fixed.

I thought briefly of going capless because I do like that look as well but the covers / logos accent my truck color.

Tell me you drink bud light without saying it by asking me about the effects on my miles per gallon :cool: Many 10mm nuts later including 2 that were hard to reach, 2 push pins, 2 of those annoying metal clips you always feel like you're going to break, and lets begin.

This is a very common mod on the Ford Superduty but I haven't seen anyone do it on a Ram so......

FWIW They did not put mine on, it was in the bag in backseat.

Same, he asked me if I wanted him to put it on, but I said no.

Just finished the thread, great work so far :)

Meanwhile, I'm sitting over here excited I managed to get my Aries nerf bars installed without breaking anything... lol. I had a problem with one of the bars had a nut welded on poorly and it broke off, I was surprised when they sent me a replacement for warranty they sent an entire new set instead of just the broken bar.

Also! I remembered in one of my many emails to Koons I told them not to put any stickers or anything else on the paint, and it seems they listened, I didn't even think about it until I saw your picture with the logo.

Thank you! Glad Aries came through for you, I really appreciate companies that stand behind their stuff after the sale, I shop with them again in the future and try to share positive reviews about them.
 
Long term maintenance question for anyone following along, I feel certain it's just an assembly line item but never hurts to ask, they will certainly be destroyed if removing. Discard and forget or replace?

Nice job on the mod.

But most people just remove it and use the CJC off road deflector/skid plate they have for the diesel intercooler
