On my 2021 Ram 3500 Laramie the tailgate has gradually lost is "dampening" and now slams open. Does anyone know how to adjust the dampening function?

You're doing it wrong
Did it come with the shock or did you install it? If you installed it you may have it upside down or a failed dampener if it came with it it could also just be a failed dampener

The gas strut located behind the passenger tail light need replacement by the sound of it.

I installed a gas strut myself on my 1500 1 year ago and that still works ok. On my 3500 it was a factory option and it started to fail in 5 months. I will get it repaired as part of warranty but hate to loose my truck for (no doubt) a couple of days for that. Oh well, I will get my recall done then at the same time. Thanks for the responses.
