Well thought today would be a perfect day to hook up the trailer and take it for a spin for the first time. Sunny and mid 50’s today. Had a tropical storm come through Thursday and a light shower yesterday morning, but everything seemed to be dried up. Pulled forward into grass so I could back onto gravel driveway and tires got buried. 4lo just made it worse. Can’t go forward or back. Unhooked from trailer and still stuck. My problem is I can’t get pulled out from the front because of the hilly grassy terrain so I need to get pulled backwards from the driveway. I have a square bumper on the trailer and I do not want to throw chains around that and rip it off. Any ideas while I wait on the tow truck?

Picture taken from where I park the trailer. I usually pull up into grass then back it in left into driveway to get out.

Good ole OEM junk tires strike again. My first trip after getting unstuck would be to tire retailer.

Did you try throwing some stuff under the tires after you unhooked the trailer (Boards, floormats, pieces of old carpet)? I can't believe even after you unhooked the trailer you're still stuck, those tires are so terrible it's almost impressive.

Yikes. Quite the predicament. I know it's a bit late to go out and buy something, but this is one situation where I'd run back into my garage and whip out the MaxTrax.

That said, I can't see what the terrain holds in front of your truck, but is there a tree close enough and substantial enough that you could hook a pulley to? That way a wrecker or someone with a winch could pull your truck forward even though they were stationed on the driveway behind it.

A much more sketchy option would be to run two chains under the trailer to your rear hitch and try pulling both your truck and trailer straight back (without pulling on the trailer bumper).

I’d go by a come-along and a couple snatch blocks before I’d call a tow truck. The bill would probably be cheaper and you’d own some good tools . Even if you don’t want to run a winch full time on the truck they are worth having, you can make a bumper mount to easily remove when not in use. It looks like you have a fair amount of property. Do you have a small mower, tractor or even an ATV? By the looks of it you only need a slight nudge to get moving.

One thing you could try here is several 3 to 4 foot lengths of 2x6 or 2x8, at least under the back tires, while staying in 4 lo. Don't accelerate fast, you can send that wood flying a long way or tear up the truck. It usually works for me in spots like this, when it doesn't look like you have anything to anchor a winch nearby.

Unhook trailer (you did), air down to 10 PSI, drive out like a pimp. You would be shocked how easily you will drive out of that if you thought like an offroader.
Seiously... cancel that tow truck. Your not in trouble, you just have too much air.

After a quick call to FIL he came rescued me with his Chevy Dually. We ended up hooking chain to frame of trailer right behind the bumper and pulled truck and trailer straight back. It was pretty sketchy and but everything survived intact. Tore up the yard pretty good. Lesson learned. I’m going to start parking the trailer at more of an angle towards the road so I can just pull straight onto driveway. If I would have thought about airing my tires down I would have tried that first. Dang.

after taking truck to coin wash I came back and hooked up and took my test drive. 6.4 pulls very well it’s a huge difference from the Titan I had. I’m out here at a church parking lot right now learning how to back up with the long bed. Little different than the Titan.
Thanks guys

Glad you made it out, and yes, that Ram is waaaaaaaay better than a Titan!

The other thing is, turn off the traction control. It makes a huge difference.

Glad you got out.

I can not tell from the pics if you got all 4 wheels to spin, but here is a link to our BLDS system.

Looks like you are on clay, which I do not have much experience with but I use this technique when on ice. Take a gravel rake and scrape marks into the ice. Have to do it beside and to the direction of travel.

You could also use boards like mentioned. I would have jacked the tires up and placed gravel underneath them also.

Good times

I used BLDS numerous times while tearing20200504_184320.jpg20200605_195553.jpg down my camp...the mud was terrible.

Now that is stuck!!
I was not stuck not ine time. Using BLDS and 4 low I never even spun a tire. That being my point of posting.

Still cleaning mud out of places though

I drove in and out of there for 2 months as I hauled stuff and moved stuff.

The mud in places was over my slip on boots. And my tires were almost bald.
