Cummin Diesel Engine Exhaust Brakes auto on with ignition

I've been trying to catch up on posts about using it full time and mostly see Gen4 and earlier stuff. Is this something Gen 4.5 guys are still doing? I noticed it jacks up the oil temp when using it. I assume people like it because it gets hot enough to burn crud off, but what kind of optimal temps should we be at to be doing that anyway?

I live in Arizona where it's still 107 out even today (September) and we don't have trouble getting **** hot.

Is there any long term determent to the turbo or anything else by using it a ton? I get that it will save brake pads and love it towing or coming off a freeway but I don't know about the long term on the turbo or if I should really want my oil temps high all the time.

Any comments are appreciated.

Same reasons for me as elephantrider. I haul around a lot and drive it more like a sports car.. so to help make the brakes last the distance I like to use the EB, I typically use it in Auto as I find that it will cruise at neutral throttle better and is less touchy to get the accelerator just right. I haven't actually noticed my oil temp increase but where I live (at the moment) that isn't an issue.

Do you run the tow haul at the the same time even if not towing I heard it helped with some of the shifting issues?

Tow haul is pretty aggressive. I like it for the quicker downshifts, but it holds RPM's too long under little load on the upshifts.

I'm actually about to pull the trigger on the duramax tune, not to solve the EB issue, but nice to know that it will do that too. Should make it more fun to drive... lol
