Cross Shopping HD Trucks

Did you look at the Ram MegaCab, available in the 2500 or 3500 in Big Horn and above trim levels? The whole back seat folds down and creates a huge flat space. And your right as to the cost of trucks today, unbelievable. Have you considered ordering? This way you get exactly what you want. For as much as these trucks cost, why settle?
I live in a city so there's no way a MegaCab would work for me.

I reached out to Granger and Mark Dodge today. They both told me that Adaptive Cruise is no longer available for orders the rest of this year due to chip shortages. This is probably the most important feature that puts the Ram above the Ford and GMC for me. There is a truck on the lot near me that has it. Tough to swallow paying $7500 more for one feature though...

I haven't been able to figure out why auto companies think it's a good idea to disable safety systems that are in use when you don't intervene. Hands are off the wheel for 2 corrections? ok we'll disable the lane keeping assist and shoot that driver out into the ditch, that'll show him... don't push the brakes at a full stop with ACC on? ok we'll disable the auto braking and slam into the car in front of you... Yeah all great ideas there.
Just like the time a sales guy was showing how the car would realize you do not have your hands on the wheel for long enough to the point it will think you have had a stroke and is supposed to put its indicator on and pull over safely and come to a stop with hazards on the side of the road all by itself. He proceeded to let go of the steering wheel on a dead straight road (realistic I know).. and it looked like it was starting to work except for the point we hopped a curb and bent the rim. LOL. So on the way back to the dealership, this poor guy said he was so confused because ''he knows it works''! So he decided to show us the auto braking to prove it has some sort of safety feature.. so there we went, 60km/h towards unsuspecting red brake lights and bumpers, it finally stopped milliseconds before the collision, not even an inch away. WOW now we understood, he was so pleased with himself that he did it again but this time from slow speed like 10km/h and.. (you may think I am joking, but I sure am not..) BAM bumper into hitch of truck in front of us.
Was by far and away the best test drive experience I have ever experienced LOL

My Lanekeep kept erroneously claiming hands were off. Software update fixed that. But yea, 2 strikes and you're out.

I'm also surprised you feel the ram has the best ride. Figured a truck with IFS would easily have the better ride. Buddy's 2019 chevy rides so much nicer than my 2022 ram. Lots of variables I suppose.

The GM's I've ridden in here lately, ride like bricks

So hard to really know for sure on a quick test drive loop. The GMC steering felt lighter but the suspension shuddered more. I attribute it to solid front axle + coil springs vs. IFS + leaf springs.

The Rams also almost always often have the (garbage Firestone) tires over pressure, at least those the dealer has "prepped" for delivery. LOL

I think the truck I drove had 80 psi in all the tires. I thought that was pretty high…

Too bad they don't have a big trailer you can tow for a test drive. That would be a great dealer.

Beat me to it. We haul lots of dogs, and the Megacab is awesome for that. I know you said you live in the city, but it's not that much longer.

My father has a 2022 Chevy and we use new GMC's at work and the ride is atrocious. The rear end is also very unsettled under rough road conditions. I had to a situation last year where i was over a break in the pavement in the winter and the truck got unsettled enough that i had to counter steer and correct the truck.

The ride in the new Chevys is awful. And so are the seats.

My 2014 2500 had a harsh ride. Finally wore out the junk firestones and put Michelins on. Un-believable change in ride and handling.

Hate to hear that. I dislike my seats so much in my Laramie I was about to order a Denali 2500. Really torn between getting mega cab limited or GMC. Seats appear to be quite different per trim level.

This is such a common thing people do not realize when test driving, only like 15% of us keep the factory tires on and even of the 15%, even less leave the pressures for max GVWR. I am sure many trucks have been ruled out because of this.

I went with Ridge Grapplers shortly after purchase myself
