Cp4 injector pump Failure

Interesting stuff here:

Docketbird has all kinds of random filings about the class action. I think that's the same one advertised by Morgan and Morgan when you type "Bosch CP4" into Google.

What a crap show.

Anyone want to buy a loaded big horn for $65k? lol
Very interesting read!!! Thank You for your post!!!

Oh hell. I have mny 2020 Ram 3500 with the HO/Aisin - and the dreaded CP4. I have the Titan 55 gallon tank on order now. Now I am leery of installing it because RAM could use it as a cause for warranty denial of the CP4 issue. I do not have an issue now. I only have about 4500 miles on my truck. Seeing failures at under 10k is alarming. I do not have 12-20k for a injector rebuild should the warranty be denied. So now I have a $1500 fuel tank that will sit on a shelf?

I will be researching the CP4 failures, but if if already has the attention of the lawyers for a possible class action suit, then there are enough numbers for them to see a profit.

I don't think FCA cares about the size of the tank or that it is aftermarket, their issue is with the fuel quality.
If concerned ask your dealer, Ran Cares, or FCA if an aftermarket fuel tank affects your warranty

Having a aftermarket tank will make no difference as long as the fuel in the main tank is true diesel with out some type of contaminated fuel. The tank itself is just the holding tank has nothing to do with the type of fuel in the tank.

I tend to agree with this. But be prepared to answer questions on whether the new tank was completely clean and dry before installation. Take good notes. Dealers try to point fingers at mods for the weirdest things.

Don't most of these aux tanks have a pre-filter/separator between the tank and vehicle, or is that just those with pumps that I see?

If it does ever happen to you RV Goose in which I believe It wont, always take a sample of the fuel prior to having it delivered to dealer. always keep your receipts and if you are adding a fuel additive keep those receipts also. I take a picture of my receipts and place them in a file.

I assume the OP is getting a Titan 55 Gal replacement tank that goes in where the OEM tank was, even though they now offer a 50 Gal option as OEM? I had the dealer install mine when the truck was fresh off the carrier, as a bit of cheap insurance against a warranty altercation.

I have a 50 gallon transfer tank with a water separator I add my additive in the transfer tank that way it goes through the separator and am always ready for fuel at any given time.

I'm trying to be religious about doing all that and putting it all into the aCar App (fuelly).

So why not just class action FCA and get the proper coverage this CP4 issue needs? I’m CP3 swapping the truck ASAP since I don’t trust FCA to deal with this. Along with I can’t be in the middle of the forest when this dies and a couple thousand dollar tow bill. Would be the same cost for the CP3 swap. Just throwing the idea out there, I just can’t understand why FCA won’t fix the problem.

Class action benefits the lawyers the most. The awards the Ford owners got under their class action suit was $850.

Another one today on this forum and 2 more on FB today. Also notice the thread views for these issues on just this forum.

Word starting to get out RAM. Not a good look, Homie.

I’m just saving up for my CP3 swap and then I should be good. I hope :)

According to some folks on motorcycle boards there is no way possible I could have ridden that much at night and still be alive without LED headlights. Halogens are junk and useless. I used to take off after work (4pm-ish), ride to a rally of some sort and arrive after riding all night and ate be before sunrise.

So I take internet boards with a fair scepticism.

Does anyone have heard of a CP4 failure in Canada? Apparently our diesel is considered of better quality overall and of even quality all across the country. So basically bad diesel would be much harder to be found.

I wonder if that would translate to a reduction in the failure rate?

Does anyone know if these CP4 failures are covered only under the 3YR/36,000mi basic warranty or the 5YR/100,000mi powertrain warranty? I'm thinking about doing the Industrial Injection or S&S CP3 conversion but I don't want to loose warranty on other things because of it.

My 19 bighorn has been sitting at the dealership for nearly a month with this issue. They started a “star case” for my truck and have sent everything required to FCA but they will not respond. I even called customer care and was assigned a “case manager” that has no pull whatsoever and has been avoiding my calls. I put in a request for his boss to contact me and still have heard nothing a week later. I guess it’s time to send out some certified letters and lawyer up! I need my truck to pull heavy equipment and the dealership gave me a 2wd 1500 as a loaner.

Just to add: my truck has a little over 12k miles and luckily I was parked eating my lunch when it **** the bed. I can only imagine what would have happened if I was pulling a piece of equipment in these Georgia hills.
