1st time cummins owner / diesel owner.

I have a 24 SWR 3500 on 37's. AEV ProCal was used to input proper tire size and mph reported is accurate to gps.

My question is that the truck seems to want to get to 6th gear quickly with light accelerator angles. It also takes quite a bit of accelerator angle to command a downshift as well. Is this commonplace for the 6.7 or is this an issue with the tire size?

Thanks in advance,

John~

They are somewhat doggy, did they re-gear or are you still running 3.73's ? That is likely your problem, lazy shift strategy and big tires

Stock gears.

Still feels like it has plenty of power, but coming from tuning every Toyota I’ve had, this is just a bit quick upshifting for my taste.

Appreciate the response… will just wait for some trans control in the future.

I had a 68Rfe in my 14 and it was real slow at down shifting , which was no fun when pulling a grade . Got so I Would just do it manually and that was with stock tires . I doubt that it is your tires based on my experience . Maybe it is still learning , who knows ?

yes the 68rfe likes to get to 6th fast when i tuned mine i had the trans shift pattern upped a bit so now it wont go in ti 6th until at least 55mph it was a huge improvement over stock

Appreciate the responses. Glad to know it’s common, but can be fixed with proper trans tuning

It does, but man the downshifting is aggressive. I need tow / haul upshift and stock downshifting :)
