Code P2459

Got the P2459 code. 2022 with 37,000 miles, runs fine, no change in MPG. Got the dash notice “ regeneration in process, continue driving”. That seemed to stay on in the background for about a week until the check engine light came on. My mechanic diagnosed, got the code, and cleared it. A few days later, the “regeneration in progress” notice reappeared.
But the last I checked the particular filter, there’s about 70% life left in it. So could this code just be a computer glitch?

regen frequency. check your oil level, and also have the dealer look at it as theres an issue with your system. if your truck was actually regenning for a week you might have a massive amount of dilution in the oil.

Thanks

Oil life says 70% left. Besides the dipstick level reading ok, what would I look for?

Oil life is miles based, nothing more.

If the level on the stick is OK, you're not making oil.

You should let the truck sit for at least 30 minutes on level ground (at least in the same spot) every time you check the oil. Try to check after the same amount of time from normal operating temperature shutdown.

How many miles/total time did the "regeneration in process, continue driving" stay on? It sounds like maybe you're interrupting the regen and it's not completing. This will cause each successive attempt to increase to where it will throw a code.

Also sounds like perhaps you're reading the "life" gauges improperly.

Oil and fuel filter are essentially recording miles. Based on 15K change intervals, 75% remaining would be 11,250, 50% would be 7,500 miles., etc.

The DPF filter is recording the soot load and should be at 0 when the regen completes. It will climb over time when not towing until a soot based regen is forced at around the 45% mark or 24 hours of engine operation.

I think I was interrupting the regen process because it did throw a code (which I cleared). But I think it has finally completed itself as the particle reading is now zero and I’m not getting any notices or codes.

Thanks again.
