Climate control settings reset between starts

I always run my climate control in the Auto mode and it has worked fine until about a week ago. I can't think of any cause or catalyst for why this suddenly started, but now whenever I start my truck, my climate control is no longer in auto and my temperature settings reset to 72 degrees. So every time I start my truck, I have to press the auto button and then set my temp to what I want it to be. I've searched through the setup menus and apps and can't find anything that would control this.

Has anybody else experienced this problem? I feel like it has to be something stupid that I'm overlooking but I can't find it.

I don't know if this is the answer, but did you switch key fobs? I know some of the settings can be matched to a key fob. I don't know if the climate setting is one of them though.

No, I didn't switch or do anything to the key fob. I am going to try out the second fob and see if it does the same thing.

It turns out that there is more to the problem. It seems that the climate system is either off or full blast A/C out of the dash vents. I hadn't noticed because it's been so hot here that full blast A/C is often the norm when in auto. When I try to manually change any of the climate control settings, like temp, fan control, or vent settings, it doesn't change anything. I don't know if it's related or not but I'm also getting park sense errors all of the sudden. Looks like it's going to need its first dealer visit. I hope this isn't something that needs a part that's unavailable because of the chip shortage.

Maybe try yanking the battery power and resetting?

Yeah, I'll probably give that a go. Does anybody know if disconnecting the battery will wipe out any changes you made with AlfaOBD?

I've disconnected my battery several times and never lost an AlfaOBD settings change.

I disconnected the battery for a half hour but no change in the problem. It's going into the shop next week for the first time. Too bad, it's been great up until now. I also noticed that my tow/haul and traction control buttons don't function either.

This is going to sound crazy, but there is a separate fuse for the HVAC control panel. Don't remember which one it is, but it's in the fuse block under the hood. Mine was blown (a 15 amp I think) and my HVAC was working similar to how you describe. You might also use a code reader and see if you get something like a "loss of communication with HVAC controller" message. Good luck...

Thanks, I have a week to play around with it. I'll definitely look into that.

You were right! Thanks for the advice. I went digging through the fuse box looking for anything HVAC related and saw F84 15 amp for ASBM / HVAC / ICS / Rear Heated Seat Switches. I pulled that fuse and it was blown. I got some replacement micro2 15 amp fuses to fix it. Unfortunately, as soon as I plug in a new fuse, it instantly blows. This is with the truck off. So it will still go to the shop next week but at least I'll be able to point them in the right direction.

So glad you found it! I found that fuse by accidentally swapping the HVAC connector and 8.4" screen connector when I removed the center console one time. What engineer decided to put interchangeable plugs so close together?!?
