I’m curious about a clicking sound coming from under the hood after shutting off the engine. It clicks about 3 times then stops. I’m guessing this is normal, can anyone tell me what’s happening when it’s clicking?

Glad to hear it’s normal and know what it’s doing.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Mine makes this strange noise right after I press the start button to turn the engine off.

This thread is 4 years old just fyi
I searched in the forum and this thread was the closest one by content. I can create a new, but I thought it would make more sense to continue here.
By the way, my truck was flooded and the guy who is fixing it said that the noise is coming from mechanism that closes air to the engine to shut it down. I wasn’t sure and was looking for second opinion.

There isn’t a mechanism that your mechanic describes. Is he talking about the egr bypass valve? Passenger side, has a exposed steel cable attached to it?

The problem is that the truck is in Houston and I am in Alaska. I was there last week and made that video.

So the clicking sound after shutdown is the DPF pump... or, its the EGR purge... or, its the radiator shutter (whatever that is). Hmmm ok, we can all assume one of those is correct... or, maybe not.
