Clearance lights

Its the same kit as a 4th gen because its the same cab…. Hence the 4.5 gen name not 5th gen
This reminds me- after swapping a 2020 dash and HVAC unit into my 2017 recently, I can poke a hole in the repeated saying that the cabs are the same. They are very different on the inside.

Its been a few days since I installed my recon lights, the 2 day deluge of wind and rain has passed and the sun is out. This gave me a chance to really look for any leaks and condensation into the light between the housing and the lens as several members here have talked about. Fortunately, it appears all 5 of my lights have made it through the storm condensation free and I have yet to notice any water getting though the housing, under the roof, and into the headliner. So far so good (knock on wood)!

I've attached images for anyone interested to see how they look post storm. For those who had condensation issues where 4 or 5 lights all had water droplets inside the lens, my only thought as to how this could happen (other than a defective product batch) would potentially be overtightening the front screw during install since the screw literally goes through the lens. I'm wondering if overtightening the front screw could have potentially compromised the seal between the lens and the housing resulting in the condensation. If it's not too late, or if you haven't already given up on the product, my thought to test this theory would be to request replacement lights and just leave them outside overnight (not installed). Since the light is a sealed unit to begin with, you can test to see if the uninstalled light suffers from condensation issues prior to install. If not, then you could mount them; if they do have condensation issues, then you'd know for sure that its an inferior product and that I've just been lucky so far.

If you pop the lens off, a bead of black rtv will get rid of the condensation. I had to do it on my 13

These lights aren’t like the pre-2019 lights…at all. They are a single sealed unit with an led board, whether they are factory, or recons.

Well color me dumb. Did not know that.

I do wish my 20 had them.

Thought I would follow up on my experience with the Recon Lights (fresh install) that I've had on my truck for about a month. Last weekend I took the truck to Tahoe and drove through some heavy snow/snain on my way. The light housings themselves have so far held up well and have yet to allow any condensation through. My one issue noted so far is that the screws used to mount the lights to the cab started to show some surface rust where the Allen key contacted them. Since the screws sit in a deep recessed hole of about a centimeter, there's no way to immediately evacuate the water other than to wait for it to evaporate; I figure this will lead to further rusting and potential water intrusion through this hole should the screw rust further. I decided to fill the holes with Flex Seal liquid clear rubber using an eye dropper. Images of the filled holes are attached. It's worked great to keep the holes water free and I think it will go a long way in ensuring the light assembly remains water proof.

If you haven't seen it already, I've posted a full install video for the lights here

I always wanted clearance lights. I tow a gooseneck dump on occasion but mainly because the look cool.
Witht he new build I ordered the Snow Chief package for $800 that included the clearance lights.
I know $800 is kind of pricey for clearance lights, but I got free limited slip differential, 22O amp alternator, upgraded OWS tires, skid plate, and some cool switches to acivate extra lighting.
I'm also in the factory clearance lights fan club.

I just did the same. The Snow Chief package is a terrific deal. I also added the Off Road package. Another killer deal (for me)

I didn't like the darker, skinnier ones, so I just purchased a Mopar kit from a 4th gen. I've done a few of those and I was familiar with how those work. I didn't know how the square hole process would go.. took the easier route! :)
