I apologize if this has been discussed. 2020 3500 with only 13,000 k. Having what I thought was injector rattle, maybe bad fuel, but not sure. Have heard “timing rattle”, “pre injection” - lots of thoughts from others.
Low rpm (lug range), basically once you hit 3rd gear and up, as I accelerate, plain as day obnoxious rattle can noise. Goes away after 1600+ rpm.
Started using high quality Shell diesel, with Diesel Kleen. Few tanks later, can’t say it’s getting better. Any thoughts?
I’m not new to diesels, but new to Cummins (with the exception of pre 2000 pick ups). I realize these engines are pretty darn quiet, so certain isolated noises may be be heard in the cab - more than the past. But if there’s such a thing, it’s not a pleasant “diesel noise”. It’s a metallic sound from the injectors (I’m assuming), not a deeper resonated tick or knock. Is that how these newer trucks sound as they break in?? I’ll accept it if all these new gen trucks sound.....
Thanks everyone!
