CJC or AEV intercooler / winch guard

For sure will not work with the factory bumper. I unpackaged mine today and that’s a fact
Thank you again for checking and reporting back.

I guess I will go with the CJC; or, if my patience will allow, get the Dethloff MFG once available

I will say CJC was fast shipping mine out. I got it today. I will say it is pretty light. I have just taken it out of the box and will install tomorrow.

Awesome! How long did it take to remove the air dam? Also, I hate to ask, can you get a side shot from underneath to show what it actually covers? Does it cradle the winch nicely?

Thanks again!
air dam takes maybe 15-20 minutes simply because there are 14 10mm nuts and a couple are kind of tough to get at. other than that it has 2 clips that are easy to pull out and two push pin style connectors that are easy.
It looks like it will keep the road slop off the winch line which is what I wanted. It is not a skid plate by any stretch but I like it and for me was worth the money. CJC was really quick to get it shipped out. and it takes 10 minutes to install it once the air dam is off.

I cannot tell you how helpful this pictures are. Thank you taking the time to take them. I agree with you. This is exactly what I am looking for to keep the slop off of the winch. While it won't act as a true skid, it does look like it provides other protections for the winch.

just got back from a ~600 mile road trip that I have taken many times. I think I did lose a bit of mpg. Not scientific or controlled test just fillup at the same places that I always do and driving the same speeds I always do with the same basic load ie just me and wife and not much else in the truck and was about 1mpg less then normal. Not enough to make me take it off tho lol..

hey for anyone that has the cjc guard......how does it hold up in the salt belt states? I'm guessing it's the same material and coating as the shock reservoir mounts? I don' need to be putting that stuff on and have it rust in 2 or three years.

I don't live in a salt state but it is aluminum.

Just got back from Moab and the intercooler guard fared just ok...lol. CJC really needs a steel version. It actually did pretty well considering how much of a pig the PW is :)

Pics!...please

If the brackets hold, and are strong enough not to deform under some nudges, maybe you could retain those. Then, just have a metal shop fold some steel at the same seams as the CJC guard itself. In theory, it should still mount to the brackets... Just don't know if the brackets are then the weak link

brackets did great. but even being steel it will hit as it ends up being low hanging fruit. I will say after 4 days in moab and driving home the last 300 miles in the pouring rain the winch line is spotless so it works perfect for that. It would be nice if it could be tucked up another couple of inches tho. 37's and a lift would help with clearance but ultimately the lower edge is still going to be the first place of contact. Nice thing about aluminum is it would rust :)...

That is great to hear. I was a little worried about the winch line getting crud in it. The guard held up really well to the abuse. I'm very happy with CJC's products so far
