Started with rear high mount cargo and brake light. Three 921 LED bulbs easy peasy. Moved to interior, just wanted the dome and overhead console lights changed to Led as everything else is acceptable. Dome (578 bulb) easy peasy but had to squeeze the metal clips hard together to get the slop out. Easy peasy.
Stupid $&€#* overhead console. Managed to pull bulbs with some difficultly out thru the clear lens port. Put LED in passenger side but then the plastic reflector would not go back in (looks like 194 bulb is barely taller enough to stop that). Tried to install second bulb on other side and it would not turn on. Pulled bulb and it flipped over into console and unable to retrieve. After two hours, I walked away.
Took to body shop this morning and tech said he thought easy fix and grabbed his tools, 90 minutes later we had success.
We found lowering the entire pod proved to be easier than trying thru the recessed bulb port. Discovered the reason driver side light would not work was because when old bulb pulled it spread the plug contacts apart enough to miss connecting with new bulb. It appears the contacts are very fragile, thankfully he was able to bend them back into position. Changing those two bulbs shouldn’t be such a hassle, hopefully the LEDs will last “forever”. Meanwhile, extremely happy with the change over!
Tech only charged for 30 minutes for work!
Also, owners manual shows bulb numbers that are non existent. Parts guy tried looking up numbers and found numbers diff than manual, I took those numbers to AutoZone and the numbers I posted above fit and do work. Below photo shows the difference in light output, its 10x more impressive in the dark.
