Center dash buttons - adding new live 2 position button

On the center dash under the UConnect screen and above the wireless charging pad and to the right of the trailer reverse steering knob there is a bank of buttons. On mine there are functional buttons for parking sensors front and rear off/on, tow mode and exhaust brake but there is an unused space with what appears to be a dead plug unlabeled in the bank. Has anyone added buttons to this bank? I’d like to add fog light controls here for the rigid lights I have in my Kelderman front bumper.

Won't work. Those switches just tell the computer they've been pressed and the computer does the actual "switching" of whatever it is.

Is the space where there isnt a button dead? In other words could I just use that spot as a flat panel to mount a small surface mount switch or is there something behind that that would prohibit that?

I’m pretty sure the PCB is pretty tight clearance right behind the switch panel, but you’d have to take it apart to see.
