CB Radio?

I installed my Motorola UHF M1225 radio in the little drawer under the center dash controls, and used a Larsen puck type antenna on the roof. The 5" tall antenna I used on my previous truck won't clear the garage door since the 2500 is taller. Was originally gonna install the radio in the bottom front seat storage compartment, but after a closer look there was a anti roll over module device there, wasn't sure if radio transmit would cause it to wack out. We use these radios when we travel in a group, and have them installed on our side x sides etc.

I just bought my 2019 Ram 2500 Megacab and am looking to install a CB. I have been researching the "how-to's" and "where's" on installing my CB and discovered your thread. I am hoping for some guidance on my install. I have the Cobra 75WXST and have identified a spot to install the box just under the steering wheel attached to the bracket that secures the dash. I plan to drill a small hole through the rubber gasket in the firewall to pass the antenna and power line through into the engine compartment. I have a FrontRunner bed rack installed and will attach the antenna to that running the antenna cable under the cab and up between the cab and bed. The one question I have that I am hoping someone can give me insight; I am thinking of keeping the radio in the center console and want to drill a small home under the CD player and cell phone ledge. Is there anything behind the wall of the console in that area that I should be concerned with hitting? Is there a straight shot from the console at that location to the cavity under the dash to attach to the box? Any help is greatly appreciated. I will see if I can take some decent pictures to post to help illustrate. Thank you all!

I’m looking at putting a president bill cb in that hole also...we’re you successful at drilling holes and running wires there?

Yes! It worked well. I used a 1/2” bit to make it large enough for the CB plug. I mounted the handset on the inside of the center console well. The 18’ cable that I purchased with the Firestik antenna was just long enough to run through the firewall access hole, under the cab and up into the bed. The antenna is mounted on the Frontrunner bed rack. I powered it through the auxiliary switch knowing I wouldn’t need it in at all times.

Try this site for antenna mount. Still have it on my 14 eco and run a wilson 1000 when traveling.
Should still fit our trucks since it is same cab.
I did something similar to my 2001 2500 back in the day. I used a triangular door hinge. Cut off the hinge part. Bent it in an "s" shape and it fit perfectly between hood and fender. I used an existing bolt under the hood/fender area to mount. I wish I had a picture, but I don't.

Anyone attempt a low-profile mount between the body and the front of the bed without a toolbox? Ideally at a height where the top of the whip just breaks the roofline. For all the purists out there, yes I know that this is not an optimal mounting strategy!
