Carrying a 37" Spare Tire

I have a 2500 CCLB with a 35" exo grappler spare in the factory location. installing it seemed tight but now that it is on, it certainly looks like there is room to just barely squeeze a 37" up in there. I dont know if it is different for the short bed trucks though.

Interesting as others with LB have said the opposite, looking at the tire specs it calls the 34.75 which is bigger than most “35s” as they tend to average 34.5”

I agree, i was very surprised after what i have read on here. I think it probably wont fit inflated due to the framerails, there is about 1" clearance between the framerails with the 35, front to back a bit more room. Mine is a 21, so not sure if something changed but i don't think it did.

Well inflated is a big difference lol why would you leave the spare deflated if you need it thats a long time on the side of the road with a little compressor lol

There are 910 mm between the frame rails, 975 mm from differential to plate on hitch - absolute best.

I have the factory 275/70R18 tire and there is approximately 35 mm of clearance surrounding the tire with the exception of the drivers side - only 12 mm there.
Whats that in real measurements lmao

Put together a spare tire mount to get ready for my 37s that are getting put on this weekend. I used one of the Fabtech kits. I just had to make a mounting plate that would work with my rack.

Soon, I'll cut the bolt down so it doesn't protrude into the bed as much.

I built 5 different mounting systems over time for my 2016 (short bed) and the one I disliked the least was essentially two pieces of superstrut that ran across the rails, essentially like a toolbox. It didn't block my view, but also kept it off the bottom of the bed which worked most of the time, but there were a handful of times we were out and I needed the full bed space. Hoisting it up to the roof rack was a chore, and every time I was very afraid I'd hit the topper either on the way up or down.
Just came across this post. New to page.
