The radius arms our trucks come with don't look too sturdy (3500 dually) and I was looking at the Carli's. Is there any benefit to these on a non lifted HD?
I think it was the guys at Thuren that said, they have never seen an OEM radius arm break but they have seen aftermarket ones break (not thiers)…I could be wrong about that…
I don't believe they do. They are the same length as the OEM just stronger. If you want more range for caster adjustments after leveling/lifting then you need their radius arm drop brackets. Carli have a good article that talks about how the front end parts work and the suspension is compressed/decompressed. I think it is a good read for anyone planning to level/lift their RAMS.
Getting right to it - the factory Ram Coil Bucket offers little support to the isolator and, subsequently, the spring. The lower spring bucket cants forward and inward making for some pretty odd spring pressures additionally to the lack of upper spring support. Let's take a look at the Ram Bucket.
