Carli Pintop with Thuren Install, and still rides harsh?

You didn't mention tire size, psi, and wheel size. Small bump compliance is really affected by all three. Having said that, the Carli King 2.5s are set up for the big hits and run rougher on the street than their Backcountry or Commuter systems. Stepping up to the King 3.0s can get you both big hits and good road ride.
37x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 22x10 wheels. Running 45psi. I think my alignment is still jacked. I will get to the Texas Motorworks when I get caught up at work. They didn't do this install but they did my Raptor and do a bunch of Carli on HD trucks. I am sure one trip there will answer my questions. It is likely I just went too heavy duty of a shock for the majority of driving I do. The roads here suck.

You may want to drop the PSI to 38 cold.

Also you're suspension is probably dialed the issues is the lack of Low Speed Compression adjustments available . Unless you upgrade to have the ability to control LSC, LSR, HSC, and HSR.

The low speed normal driving is going to be your LSC. It will help control break dive, cornering and the bold Cadillac boating floating feel. When in the dirt you open that up to full open.

On my raptor I have to close (+) add LSC to stiffen it up or I'm riding a boat on the road, but once you hit the dirt you open that baby up and let it rip.

Wish we could retro everything to Live Valve, that technology is here just not released yet. That will be a game changer

Having 22x10s is going to limit your small bump compliance at some level, no matter what you do. Even with 37" tires, that's alot of rim

they straight up tell you to run 17s or 18s if you want their stuff to 'work'. you ate up all your sidewall/cushion with those rims. of course the ride sucks.

hope your alignment gets fixed and it improves some, but the crap ride is just math at this point. you have a hard assed tire with very little sidewall as your primary bump absorber and it's awful at the job. the rest of the system is designed with a tire/wheel combo in mind that does a good job. you spent a lot of money on a bunch of stuff that's not meant to go together.

As others have said, your wheel tire combo is going to play a huge part in your small bump compliance, especially with that setup.

For example the factory setup of 18s/33.5" tires mean your wheels makes up roughly 54% of that diameter. A "standard" recommendation of 17s and 37s for one of these builds improves that number to roughly 46%. Your current setup has your wheel taking up 59% of the total diameter. So you've added a suspension that is geared for higher speed off roading and reduced the tire sidewall by a decent amount.

If you're totally sold on the 22s then you should play with your pressure but it's never going to ride as good as it can.

Ugh, this thread is scaring me. I have Thuren 2.25 springs with the Carli 2.5 Leveling King shocks waiting to go on my 3500 once its delivered. I will have 295/65/20 Ridge Grapplers.

Don't let it scare you.

Most guys think putting Kings on or any suspension work improves the ride like it's a Cadillac or off reading beast. There's so much that goes into improving a HD ride that simple shocks won't do the trick.

Buy with confidence just know that you're not converting it to a trophy truck

Agreed with previous comments - the Carli 2.5 shocks don't make the truck ride like a Caddy over small bumps. They will allow you to eat up massive hits like you won't believe. That is really what they are made for. If the ride feels rough, just go faster...

Quick question and it applies to others that have "mixed and matched" suspension "kits". If a manufacturer has spent the time to "design" a kit with all the "necessary" parts why "mix n match" Is it cost? part availability? or something else?

Why modify your suspension at all, dodge spent tons of time "designing" the stock suspension...

Truth is parts availability, super hard to come by Thuren king shocks, and Carli spring kit lifts the rear, which I didn't want

The why to modify the well researched Ram OEM suspension is improving upon what the factory is limited in which includes the bean counters watching cost of manufacturing, also they have to contend with finding a system that will be a good match for the guy that tows/hauls at max GVW and for the guy that drives empty all the time and cannot forget about the compliancy that the overlanding crowd is after. The stock suspension can do it all, but there is always room for improvement and customization to suit your needs more than another, which will present a trade-off of capabilities, but a good system will and can strike that balance better than stock given the proper wallet.

At the end of the day, Carli/Thuren mixed kit does work very well. What I was originally missing was the Sway bar. That made a ton of difference. On top of that, I believe i was running on a substantially compromised axle, which I'm sure didn't help. (see my thread over in "General Discussion")

If I had to do it again, and parts availability was not an issue, I would buy all Thuren, because you can select the valving stage you want and ride height you want, rather than Carli's one size fits all approach. I wouldn't tell anyone that using Carli Shocks and Thuren springs/sway bar is a bad idea, however. If you are looking to install a kit quickly, go ahead and do it. I don't think you will regret it. Just don't cheap out - make sure you run an aftermarket swaybar!

The point you mentioned on ability to dial in your ride height is one of the primary reasons I went with Thuren over Carli. Looking back, I don't know it's a big enough thing for most people, as are the valving changes. I'm happy with my Thuren stuff though, and their support has been fantastic.

I'm glad you're happy with your setup not that you've got it dialed in.
