Experts, installed a Banks CAI on my new 2022 megacab last week, and it threw a P0402 code for excessive flow at the EGR. I cleared the code at the shop and and it was good to go; no difference in performance, so thought maybe just a fluke. Yesterday, was pulling my loaded trailer through the hills, working that break in, and check engine came on again after I was merging onto the interstate. I was working her pretty hard, boost was up in the higher 20’s when the light came on, and again, no noticeable change in performance. I have read in other posts how some CAIs will throw this code for restrictive airflow, but never heard of excessive flow at the EGR. Thoughts?

Getting the same code on my 22 after installing S&b intake only when hooked to trailer

Took mine into the dealership, they replaced the EGR, said it was getting stuck and the CAI shouldn’t have anything to do with it. Put mine back on today, so far so good… but we shall see!

Took me an hour to change back to stock intake. Dealer had it in the shop about 2 hours, but I dropped in without an appointment, so unsure how long it actually took them to do it.

Have you had any more problems? I have also had a P0402 code whilst on my second journey towing with an S&B CAI installed.

There the same code a couple weeks ago. Not sure what the problem is with the EGR. One shouldn’t impact the other. Put the stock box on and no issues thus far, but really want to run the kit I bought.

i hit a "bump" an some parts fell off lol.... but when it threw p0402 the factory tune is reading that the s&b is bringing in way more air then factory intake an egr is like wtf. an throws light but not a issue besides check engine light.

Computer sees more air then normal an thinks somethings wrong. A tune will be the fix or just keep clearing code.

Yep no problem. Just tell em trucks throwing code for egr witch they'll pull ot when they're checking you in on computer an will see. An tell sm to check it they might replace egr if in stock. Not sure of they have an updated ecm file they can flash. Or go hit a speed bump at 50mph. An let stuff fall off

Would be interested to hear what they have to say. I don’t want to put an aftermarket tune on it, trying to stay legit with the warranty, at least for now

10/4 my dealer doesnt care about tune an hasn't been an issue with getting warranty work done

Any updates from the dealer? Still haven’t put CAI on and want to know if it a simple fix or an enduring problem. Thank you much!

Apologies for not updating sooner - the day before I took the truck into the dealer, the check engine light cleared itself. I got them to check it anyway. They did a few tests on both the intake and EGR systems and came up with nothing. I haven‘t towed since, but normal driving hasn’t thrown any codes.
