Hi guys! I'm a new member. I've been reading up alot here and it seems like a wealth of information. I'm looking to buy a 2024 Dually. I read quite alot about build dates and the 4 number code on the Monroney. Here's my 2 part question.

When did production begin for the 2024 model year?

If the window sticker says for example 0801 on the bottom does that mean 0801 in 2023 or 2024?

The reason I'm asking is I don't have access to the vehicle to look at the door sticker, only window stickers dealers post for inventory online. Could the 0801 on the window sticker be 0801 in 2023 and it is been sitting on a lot for over a year? Or is it 0801 2024?

It's now Oct 2024 and quite a few sitting on lots so I'm asking if this is 0801 2024 or could also be 0801 2023?

Jimmy

Now why would the build date matter you’re looking for a 2024? If its sitting on the lot and new than i don't see the issue.

2024s started aug 2023 iirc

I didn't say anything about it being "an issue". I asked a simple question, no issue. I wasn't asking for an opinion, just a helpful answer or two. Thanks for taking the time to help shed some light on when production might have started.

I have not heard anything about the window sticker having a date code. Looking at my window sticker on my 19 i see nothing that would make any sense as a date code. Perhaps @Brutal_HO may know

Thought I've read before that the last 6 digits of the VIN refer to the order in which the vehicle was built...if the last six are 157234, that means it's the 157234th off the line for that MY. May be wrong though...I'm sure someone knows for sure if that would help.

He’s referring to the numbers circled below. It’s not the actual build date, but it is always a date sometime after the build date and before it’s shipped from the plant.
It’s definitely an interesting question since they be building out 2024’s for around 15 months this model year.

It’s a sequence number, but it has nothing to do with when it was built.
On a Ram truck, 157234 would mean that it is the 57,234th truck who’s order was accepted and assigned a VIN.

you can tell year of construction in the VIN. All vehicles that offline on 2023 would have a "P" as the 10th letter in the VIN. If it was offline in 2024 it would have an "R" as the 10th letter of the VIN. Ones that will go offline in 2025 will have an "S" as the 10th letter in the VIN. This is part of an ISO standard for VIN's. My truck build in September of 2020 has an "L"
