Bug Deflector

Ok, so I’m between the AVS and the Mopar. I see the AVS tapes down flat, I’m not to keen of the painted edge of the hood showing on the front and I’m sure it is not very effective with as little rise as it has. On the other hand, the Mopar has had mention of screws showing at the front, any pics of this?

My aeroskin does not allow that 1/4” of paint to show, may be install error. Or choice, whichever. I don’t think of mine as a bug deflector, more of a rock shield.

I noticed that in your pics, I have seen two different chrome version installs that have that gap at the front. Maybe made different for some reason. Yours looks like factory work, perfect. Just how flexible is it at install?

By saying flexible, do you mean are there options, or is the piece itself flexible? I just want to make sure I’m answering the right question.

Ok, in that case yes... if you leave it in the sun on a 60 degree day It’s like a piece of al dente linguini. ;)
So you should be able to bring it down to the front edge and spread as you pull tape.

Yea it’s got pretty good directions along with prep chemicals. The tape across the top is 1 end to the other so stuff like pine needle, etc can’t easily get in between the shield and the hood. The bottom tape has a opening on each side at the low spots in case water gets past the top strip it won’t pond inside the deflector. It fits the contours of the hood pretty much exact, they molded them just right. Im not one to give out compliments unless it’s warranted either. If it’s what your looking for I’d definitely recommend it.

I'm a little confused. Back In the day, bug deflectors had a small little fin on the back to create an updraft to allegedly carry the bugs over your windshield. The ones out now don't appear to have any provision to do that.

Now you just blind them with chrome and they can’t find the windshield…….

I found those never really worked. Had several over the years. I think they are just more insurance from rock chips on a vulnerable part of the vehicle
