Brake Controller Indicator Light Question

Does the little trailer symbol by the brake controller light up green when a trailer is connected? I feel like mine used to, but I may be incorrect.

When I squeeze the levers together, the trailer brakes work, just wondering if everything is working properly.

No but it will light up orange (or was it red?) if you disco with the truck running.
