BOTH Batteries dead in two years?

Yes, that’s how they charge with a single alternator.

Just be sure the negative is hooked on the vehicle side of the battery sensor (on the drivers side) not the battery side of it.
Whats the significance of doing the vehicle side of the IBS (drivers side batt) and not just to the post? What I currently have is a 3amp charger connected to posts on the passenger side battery. When I plug it in, I have current going to passenger side battery of course, but I also checked the drivers side battery with a meter and the volts increase there as well, which is to be expected. This is the first time dealing with dual batts and an IBS.

You are on the vehicle side of the IBS with the passenger battery.

This lets the PCM monitor charge into the batteries. It’s generally not as issue unless the batteries get depleted and then recharged without the PCM monitoring the recharge.

Ah yah, I think I see what you mean. Connecting to the posts of the passenger side battery means I'm connected on the vehicle side of the IBS for the drivers side battery.

mine lasted 3.5 years, good I guess
I replaced mine at 3.5 years. I didn't wait for them to fail. I put a cheap bluetooth battery monitor on them and didn't like the way the voltage was dropping with the truck just sitting there. I replaced them with two AGMs from Costco.

My '22 made it almost a year before they replaced the batteries. I live in Arizona, it doesn't get very cold here.

It really makes you wonder about overall quality when the sole focus any more is on shareholders, not quality vehicles. The Ford guys are really starting to complain about it.

Heat kills batteries faster than cold…
