I have read that the audio over Bluetooth is better than that of the WiFi connection that CarPlay uses. I highly doubt this works, but has anyone found that they can connect via Bluetooth to play audio and still use CarPlay for such things as Waze?

Nope. I connect Bluetooth and lose my CarPlay. I find the audio is quite good with music I have stored on my phone, doesn’t matter if it’s Bluetooth or CarPlay. However loudness/quality does somewhat suffer if I use something like pandora. YMMV.

I did a little googling, and basically landed with what my ears told me; wireless carplay < bluetooth < wired carplay.

Not long after getting my truck, i disabled wireless carplay completely and only use a wired connection. Kind of a pain in the ass, but I do notice a difference, especially on the several lossless albums I have on my phone. IMO this allows you to use all the benefits of carplay, and get the best audio quality.
