Block heater

I went ahead and had the plug done as factory option. My days of crawling around on my back are done. However I did buy the plug adapter I guess what’s like shown but I will be drilling a hole in the side of the plastic front license plate bracket and mounting to the side. Easier for me to see to plug in that underneath. But for those states that don’t require front plate that’s a great place where you mounted it
@Klinger I ordered the factory too but didn't see an option to buy a plug adapter. Where did you order? Thanks

You're welcome. That is why I paid the local shop $40. Simple for them on their lift. Much harder to do both lying on your back.

I believe the part numbers are;

Heating element: 68225550AA
Cord: 68219820AA
Screw: 6501373
I literally asked the dealer about installing it after, since it didn't come with it, all this before I picked it up, and they wanted over $400 dollars, I think it was like $450 to install a factory $90-part. That's crazy after seeing this...no, I didn't have the dealer do it either. I have the 6.4.

genos makes a nice unit for the 6.7.

I can't find that dang cord on my 20 model , forget to do that on my check list at the dealer, where y'all say it was at

For those wanting to install the engine block heater, it’s much more accessible on the ‘19 than prior years. You don’t even have to remove the air box anymore as the plug is right there and accessible from the top looking down at the oil filter. Remove plastic cover and snap in your block heater. See pics below. 10 min job and then route along frame to front of vehicle behind license plate. Easy!

Those pics were a big help. Thanks!

I was excited about this post until I realized it's for the diesel. I started a thread about adding one to the hemi but it didn't get far
I asked the dealer about doing it after the fact and they wanted like 490 dollars...thought that was a bit ridiculous...

How long is the OEM cord? I will be doing the outlet in the air dam mod for sure

I have a 2023, without a front plate. I seen this on my window sticker, but dealer said there's no cord. Said it's all done electronically when I first start the truck. I'll be looking again when I get back home. Is there a chance the cord is rolled up somewhere?
Behind the front plate-I.E. behind the bumper, in the area of where the front plate would be. You can also look at the block heater. It’s on the block to the left of the oil filter. It will look like this if you don’t have a cord installed.

Before I go into the dealership & show my ass, I'd like to ask ya'll your opinion.
I have attached my window sticker, Under optional equipment there is cold weather group & engine block heater.
Does mean this has been installed, cord & all? or just the heating element?
Im asking for my alter ego so he doesn't look like a fool

The grid heater (intake air) is controlled by the PCM. That's the "Diesel Preheat in Process..." on the EVIC (dash cluster) - which can be skipped if you press the start button a second time.

The engine block heater element is pre-installed in every Cummins engine built. The block heater cord is optional and, as stated, found behind the valance near the license plate mounting location.

Dealer needs to go back to dealer school.
