How can we turn off all exterior lights? During the hurricanes in FL, I used my truck inverter to power things in my home. I could turn off headlights but far too many lights remain on. The tail lights seemed crazy bright in complete darkness.

Any ideas?

You would need a bypass cable, j scan, and a OBDlink mx to turn off the signature lights and what not or it would be cheaper to buy a generator since the OEM inverter is 400W and a cheap 1000w generator is dirt cheap

What exactly do you power with that inverter? It not much good expect for phone chargers and maybe a lap top charger.

You can't. It sucks.

Setting it to police mode with AlfaOBD kills them, but it cascade kills a bunch of other things, remote, etc.

P.S. Can you please fix your sig. It's Cummins not Cummings and you're triggering 95% of the membership. :-)

Well, that was embarrassing. I fixed my signature file, thanks. Cummins, how could I ?

I got a generator now but It made me wonder how to black it out all lights.

It ran my refrigerator, some lights and charing devices as needed. It was for a short run as I could not justify leaving it run all night like a christmas tree. I had a generator the next day.

Man I don’t see how that worked. I can’t get mine to run a float tube inflator.

Refrigerator? Like a full size one?? I couldn't even get that inverter to tun a little 2 gallon compressor...

You sure you don't have a F150 Lighting??

You'd be surprised how little power a refrigerator actually requires.
I have a power monitor on my 13 cu. ft. freezer. Draws about 100W with the compressor running and maybe 120W peak when it starts.
The power outlet on our trucks can easily provide that.

An air compressor is a totally different animal.

That depends on the age and size of the fridge. 13Cuft its not very big and likely has a DC motor

I would need to see a video to believe it.

I tried running a clothes steamer off it to steam a dashmat and it was a no go.

I also tried a small 1.5 gallon compressor from harbor freight and it was a fat no.

Not surprising. The steamer has a heating element in it to produce steam, and that usually means a lot of power draw.
Even small tank air compressors usually draw >3A, meaning 360W, and that also can be too much.
I can run a small tankless tire inflation compressor off it, though. I'm not sure about the specs ATM.

I guess everyone uses it differently, but nothing useful for me will run off it....certainly no crock pots...but never say never!

I guess i should try my VIAIR compressor if they make an adapter for those.
