Taking the plunge into 315/70R17 on my Power Wagon. Ordered a set of the HD Terrain T/A KT tires from Tirerack to replace the worn out stock size Goodyear UltraTerrains I have been running. I run a set of studded snows in the winter so I wasn't concerned with winter traction abilities. These seem like they may bridge the gap between an A/T and M/T nicely in a lot of respects.

I'll post up some pictures and review once I get them mounted an installed later this month.

So I will say I like them so far. It goes without saying that the visual upgrade is immense.

I’m used to studded snow tires and thus far these seem potentially quieter than the snows. I’ve recalibrated the tire size using Alfa OBD and while the truck certainly feels “heavier” with these tires I’d say it also feels more surefooted and stable. Time will tell how they wear in.

They only come in a load range F in this size so I’ve drastically lowered the TPMS thresholds with Alfa OBD as well. Currently sitting at 45 front and 50 rear which according to inflation charts is likely still too much but it rides nice and the footprint seems even (haven’t verified with chalk or anything…)

The spare absolutely would not fit with the heat shield in place. I even tried stuffing it up there with zero PSI in the tire. No dice. Ended up removing the heat shield and it stuffed up there fine - ended up leaving 15 PSI in it. I carry an ARB dual unit so I wasn’t worried. I think these run a bit bigger than the advertised 34.4”.

I’m very on the fence about the balance beads. I’m gonna run them for about a week but I think I’m going to be removing them and using traditional weights.

All in all I’m happy so far. 315/70R17 is the size the PW should have come with.
