BFG KO2 or KM3

Lol. Tire baller eh? I haven’t heard that one yet.

people are snobs about some of the weirdest ****.

again… USA-made tires.
Eh I wouldn’t say baller, it’s just perspective.

when you’re into rock crawling, any normal truck tires seem pretty cheap all of a sudden (my 39” BFG Krawler KX cost over $700 a piece)

also, toyo makes nitto and they’re made right here in Georgia so that’s fine with me. Plenty of folks make tires in the USA.

You don’t like USA-made, low cost tires?
I had a set of AXT's on my wifes grand cherokee and they were garbage. Loud as a mud tire and wore like crap. I had a set of mxt tires on my 2500 and liked them, weren't great in the snow but thin 2 ply sidewall. Now though they are about the same cost as a set of normal cooper or bfg so they aren't the deal they once were.

To the OP look at the General grabber X3. I don't know how they will wear yet, but they somehow were by far the best tire in snow I had on my 2500 and having just used them for a week off roading in rock, sand, mud, etc they show zero signs of it.

Tires are literally the only things that touch the ground. They should be much a higher priority than most people give them. The single most significant upgrade when it comes to performance anyone can do is tires.

FYI, many of our RAM trucks are built in Mexico. I think Toyota builds more trucks in the USA now than RAM.

Fair enough and good points, but you dont rock crawl your Ram do you?

MC tires are more than good enough for a truck that sees most of it's duty on road.

Ive had 3 sets of AXT's and 2 sets of AXT2's..... none of them made noise, not one. Never ran the MXT so cant comment on those.

For a pavement race vehicle or off-road race/competition vehicle, sure.

For a street truck, i couldnt disagree more.

But hey.. its only money right? Spend it where you think matters because the truth is, it's all just an opinion--mine included.

The same principles apply on a competition vehicle as a street vehicle.

You want the tire to maximize your grip. The trade offs being cost and tire wear.

I have never seen an Internet thread on tires come to any agreement. Heck, there are people who even like the Firestone Transforce that come on our trucks!

BTW - Yokos are the best!

Hey! I like the tires that came on my truck, lol.
But I ordered mine with upgraded all terrain tires. Don't remember what they are

I have had both on rigs ranging from trucks to SUV's to Wranglers, and I currently chose to have KO2's on my PW and Wrangler. I don't understand all the KO2 hate going around. I guess some folks have had a bad time with them but for me, they have been absolutely great and have been for more than a decade. I have run AT's and MT's from Goodyear, Coopers, Dunlop, and a few others and none of them were anywhere as good as BFG's at anything. I have not run Nitto's and a couple of other main brands to be clear so maybe there are better tires out there. I have 25k miles on the KO2 on the Wrangler and they look to be about 40% worn. I would expect at least 50k miles out of them. I don't have the experience on with wear on an HD truck so we shall see.

On Road: For a daily driver the KO2s great on the street on both my rigs. The wet traction is excellent, they ride good and are very quiet for as aggressive as they look. I was debating if I was going to replace the stock PW Goodyear tires or let them wear out before I got the truck last month. After 200 miles on the GY's, I already hated them. I was sliding around in the rain, they were loud, and I could feel the "MT buzz" in the steering wheel. I stuck the truck with both ends locked in 6" of mud as the GY's balled up almost instantly and no amount of throttle was cleaning them. Two weeks ago I installed 35x12.5 BFG KO2 and the ride quality, traction and smoothness were night and day better. This is my opinion only, but I am very sensitive to these things.

Off-Road: KO2 are excellent in sand and snow, I mean good. They are also great in rocks and dry type conditions. They are not good in mud. The KM3 is notably better in wet conditions and also great in dry. The KM3 is better at pretty much everything off-road except maybe snow, but their downfall is on-road manors. They don't have the street wet traction of the KO2, don't ride quite as smooth and do make a little noise.

Anyway, for a daily driver and commuting to work, I would and do go with the KO2's. If I had a more dedicated trail rig, the KM3's for sure, or if I lived somewhere I could get off the road and play within 30 minutes.
