Ive ran the BFG KO2s for a long time and have been very happy with them. However with the PW, I am thinking about getting the KM3s basically because they have a more aggressive look. I do light off roading, but I do spend a lot of time in the snow in the winter, so thats one of my main concerns, namely the handling in snow/ice. I also would love to know if they are louder on the road than the KO2s. So basically hoping someone here has experience with both. Looking at 37's if it matters.

Thanks

KM3 is good in SNOW.. not in snowy / slick road conditions. KO2s wear far too fast for my liking.

Falken Wildpeak, or Mickey thompson Baja Boss AT.

I ran. KM3s on my Blazer. Worked great in the sand dunes and offroad. Not much noise as far as I could tell, but my exhaust was a bit loud.
They didnt wear as well as the KO2s.

I’ve run KO2’s on Jeep’s, Landcruisers and a 4Runner. They are great snow tires. Main thing with them is you got to rotate them at every oil change to get a solid life out of them. But that’s true with almost all tires.

The KM3 doesn’t have the three peak mountain snowflake rating but the KO2 does, very important if you plan on running the tires year round. The KM3 will feel like driving on roller skates in the winter and wear faster in the summer due to the softer rubber compound. All I can say is do your research no matter what brand you go with, mud tires often aren’t rated for winter conditions.

I’m a BFG fan when it comes to Offroad tires but, I wouldn’t run the KO2 if someone gave me a set. I think they’re trash all around.

I would pay good money for a set of KM3 for a rig that sees pavement and trails, they’re a great tire for the climate and terrain around me.

Not sure why people say BFG is not the tire it once was?? Care to explain??

BFG is still the top off road tire in racing. And what they learn there, goes into the tires for the streets. No I don't work for BFG. Nor do I get any perks from them. But they are a big sponsor for the off road race team I volunteer with. I see their technicians out at the races a lot, doing measurements on the tires we take off, atmospherics, looking at the wear on the tires, etc. So they are dedicated to making their products better.

I ran the KM3's on my Blazer. They worked good on and off road. Never had them in snow though. But worked great in the sand dunes and high speed desert running.

I’ve always had good luck with KO/KO2, knowing that they’ll get about 30,000-35,000 miles. Just make sure you keep the 50,000 mile warranty paperwork so you can get a credit when they wear down. I’ve never tried the KMs because I figured they would wear out a lot quicker and might have issues in winter driving.

I started getting less mileage out of them with no change in towing habits. Ran KO and KO2 when they came out for 16 years total on my 04.5 2500 QCLB CTD . Went from a solid 30-35K miles on them to 20-25K. Before that I ran them on my 98 2500 ECLB gasser, my 94 B4000 (Ranger), my 86 Bronco II, etc.

They also contributed (IMHO) to the death wobble I had for a time on the 04.5 but so did the crap Y steering.

I also had a set of Rugged Trail (Terrain?) that turned to utter crap and blew bubbles on the tread belt on the front axle of the 2500 CTD. Both front tires went within 100 miles of each other. I think BFG quit making those turds.

They're decent enough tires for a lighter trail rig but as another said, they don't belong on an HD truck especially one towing heavy.

If snow/ice performance is a major concern then I would not go with the KM3. I would look for a 3 peak designated AT.

Having said that, I get snow and ice and went with a KM3 after running 3 peak ATs (which were great in the snow). I'm curious how my KM3s will perform this winter.

For the driving you do (mainly roads, light offroading) and conditions you’ll be in (snow), the KO2s will suit you much better… The KM3s are absolutely terrible in snowy/wintery conditions.

Lol. Tire baller eh? I haven’t heard that one yet.

people are snobs about some of the weirdest ****.

again… USA-made tires.

Mastercraft are made by Cooper. Cooper tires are not junk so I'd say give them a whirl. They also have Mickeys and Dick Cepek under their brand.

I'm sure they're made to a price point, but for a trail pig, why not try them? You may not "win" but probably make a good showing.

ETA: That said, seems the pricing isn't much lower than a set of those awesome BFG's.

All true points and my experience with them has been pretty good so far. Ive had half a dozen sets or so and they always balance with minimal weights and wear nicely.

I liked the AXT, but that has recently been replaced with the AXT2. Plenty of size choices in an E-rated HD tire at a great price.

They are starting getting more popular and as such, the prices are beginning to rise to your point above.
