I think I am going to end up getting a canopy because I just really like the idea of large covered storage where I can just throw anything back there, including taller stuff, and shut the door and be done. Since the build time on those is at least 3 months out, I may need something temporarily to get through the rainy winter, to go up skiing, etc. What do you think the best way is to go? Maybe an inexpensive tri-fold like a Gator SFX or even a rollup like a SRX?

Amazon tri folds are 300ish cad so you should be even cheaper state side

I bought a $250.00 tri fold for my old Tundra and ran it for several years with zero issues. The truck sat out in the sun every day of its life and it still looked good the day I traded it in. All I did was wipe it down once a month. I've actually been meaning to get one for the Ram.

I've had the roll up Tyger Auto one above from Amazon for almost 5 years and it has held up really well. I don't have a garage so it's outside in the weather 24/7 and is still in great shape. Good option if you don't want to spend a bunch but still want something that'll look nicer than a tarp. Very little water gets in the bed.

I bought a Lund for mine. Less than $300 delivered to the door.
Had it for a few months now and really like it. Life time warranty.

I got this one for the same reason. Back then they had one for sale that fir my truck. Had it on for a couple of months before my ARE MX came in. The only reason I got it was that we took a 3-week trip and I did not want everything in the bed exposed to the elements. Now it is packed back up in the box in like new condition. Listed it for sale at 1/2 price a while ago but no locals were interested and it is not something I can easily reship. I was happy with it. At this point I would probably give it away to someone who wants to pick it up! Just taking up room in the barn.

I've had the Lund Tri-Fold with the regular fabric on my 16 and had good success with it, would recommend. Tried the Rough Country Tri-Fold on my 19 and hated it for various reasons, biggest being it didn't lay flat on the bed rails. Now I have the Lunt Tri-Fold with the Elite fabric on my 20 and I love it! The Elite fabric is really easy to keep clean and looks a lot nicer, if you can afford the extra for the Elite go that way. End of the day, the biggest thing for me is that you can get replacement parts for Lund on Summit Racing.

I had a tyger on my Gladiator for about a year and a half, and liked it. I'm trying to decide what to do on the ram but might end up with a tyger again. Too many options, and the tyger rolled up is out of the way. I like the flexibility it offers for closed or rolled up completely out of the way. Price is good tool

In case anyone is interested, Realtruck.com has both the Gator SRX and SFX on sale for $219 until Monday. One of those should get me through a few months and maybe I can even sell it for $100 when I am done. Maybe the rollup will be better because it will take up less room in the garage when I am done with it.

I am very pleased with the cheap Gator SRX roll up on my pavement princess. The velcro and locking mechanism works as intended. It's even water tight save for the occasional car wash dribbling in on the left rear corner. No big deal to me as I don't keep anything back there.

I actually ended up getting a Truxport that will end up being $230 after the mail in rebate. I installed it today and it seems pretty sturdy and like it is sealed well. We'll have to see how it does in the rain but it should be good enough to use for a few months until I get a cap. Maybe I can get half of that price back when I sell it.

Another satisfied tyger user. Had mine on for over a year now, no problems what so ever. 229.00 from Amazon. Very easy to open and close. Will get another one when it goes. Only thing i dislike is its like a convertible top. Very easy to slice open and steal whats under it. But i do have to say the vinyl used is a top notch.

I too recommend the Tyger soft trifold cover. Had it on my Tundra and it was really good for the money I paid. Mine did not leak one bit and was easy to take off in a pinch. I have a Bakflip Revolver on my Ram and it leaks water, the Tyger never let water in.

I've had multiple Gator rollups on different trucks. My current one is 5 years old and have never had an issue. I don't see me spending a thousand plus for a cover when the new truck gets here. Cost doesn't mean better.
