Bed steps

My dealership said there is nothing under my VIN, as RAM Cares claimed there would be. I've reached back out to RAM Cares to see if they could either re-send the voucher to a known good email address or provide it to me here, and nothing but crickets.
Yeah, the folks that don't have the recall tied to their VIN seem to be screwed on this or they're just taking their sweet time. I know for a fact when I decided to have my trk shipped without the bed step, I was told by the dealership I would be getting a discount voucher. Of course I never received anything tangible like an email or snail mail to that effect. It's infuriating really.

OK, just got out of there. New step looks identical to the old one. They must have put on a new take-off with the new brace. I didn't crawl under to look, but I probably couldn't tell the difference. It's just really nice to have this useful accessory back to get my crippled old fat ass up into the back of this thing. Still in love with this truck.
Yes its just a brace on the original step i had mine reinstalled from the dealer its a 20min install i was there for 1-1/2 hrs before they touched the truck even though i had an appointment i was pissed i told them to just give the the step ill put it on but because of the recall they couldn't

Well, spoke with FCA Incentives, FCA Recall and FCA Customer Service Center and none of these folks are aware of this coupon program for those that received the Bed Convenience Group package because of the bed step recall. All I wanted to do was verify that I was on the mailing list for the coupon that my dealership seems to be under the impression I'm supposed to be receiving. At this point, the only dept at FCA that knows anything about this is RAM Cares and their consistent response to me is "contact your dealership for more information."

I'm at the point where I'm going to say **** it and just have the dealership order the parts and pay full price. This is insane because this old coot has difficulty climbing up into that bed without the step.

I had the exact same situation happen to me. @RamCares just FYI. Y’all need to get on the same page internally because all of us are getting passed around.

I was emailed a 15% off coupon back in October. I’m wondering if that was it. The discussion I had with Ram cares during the ordering process definitely said “voucher”. Two different things to me.

Thank you @Omar RVA , this is in fact the discount voucher that will apply to your bed step. We sincerely apologize for causing any confusion on our end, please know that if you are unable to locate this coupon in your email, then you may contact your selling dealer for support. Thank you,

Kathryn

I haven't received anything in snail mail nor email (I check my spam every day too). My dealership offers no other help, they say I have to wait to get the coupon. I fail to understand why it's taking so long for many of us get this voucher.

Update:

After the last go-round, I called my selling dealer's sales manager and contrary to what RAM Cares told me, they could not find any voucher under my truck's VIN and told RAM Cares that.

Now today RAM Cares ignores that and tells me again to contact my dealer, that they should have the info under my VIN.

What has changed is RAM Cares has stopped using the term voucher, and is now saying it's a "Discount Code".

Bottom line, I'll be buying the step myself from a wholesale parts dealer.

RAM Cares may be doing something useful for other problems people have, but I doubt it. They done nothing but give lip service here on the forum.

I love my truck, and it's been almost perfect. I have minimal issues with the product to date, but i gotta say my first experience with RAM customer care has sucked. I've used the same GM dealer for 25 years, and one of the reasons for that is they have ALWAYS taken care of me and every other customer. Had this situation happened with a GM truck, my dealership would have put the step on out of their pocket as soon as they had one on hand. It's a no-brainer. There was a very small window that this was an issue, so their cost exposure is minimal, especially when you consider that they're getting the parts at cost.

I wasn't under the impression it was only a 15% discount either. I'm with you, I'll probably buy it myself, I'm sick of waiting.

RAM Cares has already run my VIN to no avail. I'm jumping off this merry-go-round.

Exactly what I did. Talk to the dealer parts department to see if they can help in anyway. I tried to use the coupon - it caused issues with my dealer and they gave me a better deal (still paid over their cost) because I was nice about it.

Catch more flies with honey and all that. FCA absolutely fumbled this process from order through purchase and months past delivery.

After the holidays, I'm going to try one more time with my dealership. If they won't install it at a discount (no coupon), I'll just order the part and install myself and be done with it. I'm done trying to climb into that bed with my old creaky legs.

Mine wanted about a half hour of labor to install. Given the shop rate I did the install myself. It took about 15 min after I picked the right sockets out.

Did the bed step come with some directions or is it pretty straight forward and obvious?

It came with directions. A page or two max. Think of the pics you’d get with ikea furniture and that’s pretty much it.

There’s a spot where the brace connects to the frame where it was nice to have the directions as there are 3 similarly sized bolts in the area and it saved me the heart burn of breaking the wrong one loose.

Good to know, thank you man

Anyone have the part @ for the bed step that will fit the 3500 with max tow and the class 5 hitch? My local part dealer is of no help. If Ram care's could give us the number we would appreciate it.

Look at post #2.

Post #2 doesn't say it is for a 3500 with max tow. There is a difference in the hitch clearance under the rear bumper. My dealer tried that one but it won't fit with the Class 5 hitc.

Not all 3500 come with a class 5n hitch! There is a c;learance problem problem with the end of the round shaft for the hitch. It interference with the bracket that gets bolted on.

Yes, they do. I am looking at my build sheet. I have a 2020 3500 DRW Non-HO. Clearly states Class V receiver hitch. The class v receiver hitches has been installed on all 2500/3500 models since 2013.20201217_171931.jpg
