Bed steps

I'm still waiting for my coupon letter from FCA, I need that before I can get the discount for the bed step.
I thought someone said the fix for the 3500s wasn't out yet? That hwy i've assumed I haven't seen anything yet.

I was replying to RTillery's post that seem to indicate he got the new bed step from his dealership. Maybe I misunderstood because I'm of the same opinion the recall step isn't available yet.

I thought I was going to get the run-around and doubted when I called in to make the appointment that they would be able to get the parts. I sat around for almost an hour and when the service gal came in (she was kind of cute) I thought here we go. She questioned if I ever had the step on? I told her their dealership had removed it when I had the VB6 recall done. She said they had no record of taking it off. but she'd check with the service manager. The last SA was a dud and apparently didn't follow up with anything.

Fortunately I had my laptop and pulled up my window sticker and went out to show them it was original equipment, ready for an argument. The service manager was there and said he'd pulled up my VIN and saw the same thing. He'd just got off the phone with FCA and they told him to take care of me. Soooo, I wound up with a new step and it kinda looks like the brace is cast into the side of the step mount? I dunno, just that it works the same as before and when I jumped down on it pretty hard, I didn't break it? Very happy to have it back.

Interesting.

As has been posted before, The new brace is cast, but a separate part.

The problem is the campaign only lists a couple parts, but the recall instructions to the dealers were to remove them and throw them in a dumpster.

Someone posted the pdf or an image but I can't seem to locate the thread/post ATM.

Here is the doc and an image of the part.

I just got my new 2020 RAM 3500 Ltd this week. I had ordered it back in August, and the bed step was not part of the build. They are available, and I did have the dealer install one for me. I don't like that I had to pay out of pocket to get it when it seems like they were including them earlier.
Oh well, it works good and is solid, and I'm happy to have it.

I like it better than the AMP one I had added to my last truck... the Mopar one has a little tab on the side that is easier to kick out with your foot. Also compared to the AMP one, the Mopar one is longer (front to back) instead of being wider. I find the length feels better when you step on it, as it supports your whole foot, not just the front of your foot.

Apparently not all dealerships are the same, my dealership still says the part isn't available.

They were never just included. They were part of a package and the recall reduced the package price. For those that got caught in the middle, they received a voucher for the step.

Correction, my dealership's parts dept said the new bed step IS available. I just have to wait for the FCA coupon (which seems to be taking quite a long time mind you).

All situations are different...But I would think they could run your VIN and get the info...My dealer did not ask for my coupon!

There's no recall on my VIN so that wouldn't do any good. My dealership isn't offering to install it for free so i just have to be patient I guess.

Thanks @Brutal_HO - I see what you mean, it is a separate option on the build configurator that wasn't there when I ordered in August. The price for the part from the dealer was about the same as the factory option price, so I guess the only extra for me is the install fee; it's winter here now, and I didn't want to lay on the driveway to do it ;)

Well, spoke with FCA Incentives, FCA Recall and FCA Customer Service Center and none of these folks are aware of this coupon program for those that received the Bed Convenience Group package because of the bed step recall. All I wanted to do was verify that I was on the mailing list for the coupon that my dealership seems to be under the impression I'm supposed to be receiving. At this point, the only dept at FCA that knows anything about this is RAM Cares and their consistent response to me is "contact your dealership for more information."

I'm at the point where I'm going to say **** it and just have the dealership order the parts and pay full price. This is insane because this old coot has difficulty climbing up into that bed without the step.

I was told by RAM cares that they emailed me the voucher on 11/12, and that if i can't find it they claim my dealership will be able to look it up by VIN. No sign of that email from Ram Cares anywhere, inbox, junk, or deleted. To i reached out to my dealership sales manager this morning to see if they can actually look it up. I'll let you know what they say, but given the fact that i haven't heard back from them yet, I'm betting they can't find it.

Thx for the update. My dealership keeps insisting that I will get the coupon and that they can't do anything until I do. It just blows me away how much run around I'm getting on this issue. It's almost as bad as dealing with a cable company when you have a question about your bill. Lol

I had the exact same situation happen to me. @RamCares just FYI. Y’all need to get on the same page internally because all of us are getting passed around.

I was emailed a 15% off coupon back in October. I’m wondering if that was it. The discussion I had with Ram cares during the ordering process definitely said “voucher”. Two different things to me.

Sorry if I missed it, but does anyone have the part number for the new step?

I see there still isn't an overabundance of folks reporting they received their voucher. This is truly ridiculous.

My dealership said there is nothing under my VIN, as RAM Cares claimed there would be. I've reached back out to RAM Cares to see if they could either re-send the voucher to a known good email address or provide it to me here, and nothing but crickets.
