Bed side step (not bumper step) for 2020 DRW

It is for the dually. From the Amp Research site I looked at the installation instructions. Across the top it explicitly states for dually only.

Nice! when I googled the number, the page i found just said 3500, no details, and none of the pics were of a dually. thanks for the info...I'm excited now!
I installed the BedStep2 on my 2020 RAM 3500 Tradesman dually. I followed the instructions. Read all the messages instructions and pat attention to the pictures. My set conflicted between the " driver's side" and a drawing later that was different.
The upper mounts worked fine. Had to completely assemble and use the two supports to mark the spot to drill. I do not have a 17/32 drill but but the 1/2 worked fine. Tapped the crush nut into the tight hole pretty easily.
After that I followed the directions and tightened up the frame mounts. Now it gets interesting. The BedStep2 did not line up with the body at all. Could not adjust it to do so. loosened up the frame mounts and found that the impediment was the mouth to the spring hanger. I tried to use the existing hole, but that pouts it over too far.
I chickened out drilling into the leafspring hanger. not sure if the 5/16 additional hole would really weaken it. I was more thinking about bare metal and starting an accelerated rust spot.
I am going to take the l bracket to a metal shop and have one made so it mounts flush and solid. I made a wedge washer to use for the next week or so.
The unit I like. I also sent an email to Amp. The instructions did say that a hole might be required to drill into the leafspring hanger. So I'm probably being ridiculously paranoid about that new hole.
I like how the step works and will allow me to acce thing in the bed of the truck, including the 5th wheel access. Never needed anything like this before this truck and I am 6'7".

The instructions drawings are wrong. For driver’s side, assemble the two piece support as shown on the passenger side or it will not line up. Sloppy work Amp research. Drove me nuts but finally figured it out out.

Im interested in a step like this for mine, but I absolutely hate that it sits so awkward to the body line. i just use the tire to step up to reach the 5th wheel hitch for now.

The two piece support shown in the instructions is wrong. The instructions show the angle facing the front on the driver side. Wrong, it needs to face the rear. Drove me crazy because the step was not parallel to the ground and didn't look right. Once I turned it around everything lined up including the hole in the spring hangar. Only hole I drilled was in the bed support to install the rivet nut.

The step is designed to be parallel to the frame, not the dually fender.

no spacers. 255/80/17 coopers
I understand how they designed it, Im just not a fan. One would think they could form the step pad to follow body lines. I have the power steps and absolutely love them, but the "universal step pad" needs a little more R&R in the engineering dept.

Been messing with the thing. Lower bracket has slots for the bolts. After loosening the two step assembly retaining bolts the step can be rotated to get close to parallel to the dually fender line. Not perfect but close.

I agree. It does look like it belongs on a dually. It may rotate a bit more if I loosen the top bracket as well. I am happy with this however.

If I get a chance later on I will loosen the bolts on the upper brackets to see if the step will rotate a bit more to make it perfectly parallel to the fender line. Won't take much.
