Battery saver system

Had the same message. Both batteries tested fine. Dealer check all the electrical connections and those were fine. They then updated the software and that fixed the issue.

Never mind it happened again this morning. Taking it back to the dealer. I’ll update once I get an answer.
Hello ejmuller,

2019 2500 HEMI 1600 miles. I get the message after less than 5 minutes of driving (let the truck warm up 10 min 1st).

Having the same issue, except HEMI so no grid heater. Dealer checked, lots of stored codes, checked the grounds... battery tests fine. No code upgrades available, so we'll see.

I2019 Ram 3500 Limited Diesel. Just had the same issue. Dead battery, I could not jump start. Called 24 hour support, they sent a truck who tried and could not start. Flat bed to dealer who tested the battery at 5V apparently. Now given I don’t drive the truck a lot as it is used to tow an RV, I still would not think 2 weeks should be enough to drain battery to 5V. Dealer is blaming my Dash-cam for parasitic draw. I have the same dash cam in 2 other vehicles and have parked for more then 2 weeks and had no issues. Camera has built in software to turn off when battery voltage drops below 12.5V.
Dealer charged vehicle overnight and when I drove off battery was reading 14.2V. I drove for 2-3 hours and parked, when I got back in and drove home battery read 13.9V-14V. Not sure if I have problematic batteries or something else.

From the Cummins forum.....theres a problem with the battery's in the 2019's... Check out two different threads....many people the same issue.

Ok...the passenger side battery would not hold a charge the drivers side is good. They are replacing the passenger side only with an OEM battery under warranty (the truck has been in-service for just under 9 months and 10 months since it was built). I'm still on the fence about not replacing both at the same time. I'll run with as is until I have another problem...then I'll replace both with AGM. After doing some research I'm leaning toward the Walmart Everstart Platinum AGM as they are easily procured and they have a 5 year warranty with first 3 years free replacement and the last two prorated. There's a Youtube video where a guy tested many different battery's and the Everstart was much better than the more expensive battery's

The first post already triggered me. First, our batteries are not AGM. They are Maintenance-free lead acid. Buy the battery with the correct specs and longest warranty.

Wallowing around in the same boat. The "Battery Saver" msg is occurring frequently as of late and while I suspect one or both batteries, I don't have a whole lot of faith in a dealer resolution. Diving into the deep end in a week or so for VB6 and will get them to look at the batteries too. Replacing both batteries on these trucks is considered a 'best practise' but is not mandatory from a dealer maint perspective as long as a replacement battery is identical to the other. Depends on how old they are too.

When creating a bank of batteries, aka connected via series or parallel. They need to match as close as possible, there is no way to match a used battery that is xx months old with xx amount of cycles. The different internal resistance will overwork one of the batteries causing premature failure. This is not something special about our trucks, it's battery chemestry, and mentioned above, a best practice.

Buy two new batteries, keep the good one around as a spare.

Truck was at the dealer  earlier in the week and I made pointed ref to my displeasure with the "Battery Saver" thingamajig popping up dozens of times. Ironically, the issue ceased to be an issue about the middle of May but that may have been associated with the warmer temps - dunno. I nevertheless pleaded with them to flesh it out! Problem is, they can't fix what ain't broke. In other words, when the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) commands the EVIC msg and starts load shedding, it's a one-off occurrence. There is no record of the event or associated codes stored - nuthin! They'll check your batteries and if they're over 12V, send you on your way. Intelligent battery sensor my azz!

I am also having this problem on my 2019 Ram 3500 HO Diesel (2600kms). Service department told me that it just happens because of programming. I’m not happy with that answer. This is my 10th Ram I’ve purchased and have got the runaround before until I put my foot down and had a meeting with the dealer. I will be taking the truck in and get them to load test my batteries as I have read above. And suggest they do an update?

Camr your sunroof drain hose is not connected, they have to connect it inside the headliner
The issue appears to have been solved. However, I do not have any info as to what the dealership has done to correct the issue. The last invoice indicated that they were receiving info from “engineering” and would follow up. The loose gear shift lever was corrected by replacing the entire lever. The sporadic radio shutdown was corrected with a new “module”, and one of the two water leaks remain unsolved. All these issues on a truck with an MSRP of over one hundred grand.
On a better note, the engine/transmission haven’t missed a beat, and the truck drives great! When it rains my leg gets wet, but as long as I’m not bright enough to realize what’s happening I’m still RAMs greatest fan boy.....with a wet leg!

The loose shift lever is an easy fix, just slide the rubber boot back and use a 10mm wrench to tighten the bolt on the bottom side where the shift lever goes in, no more wobble.
