Has anyone else had their truck go into "Battery Saver Mode"? I'm wondering if the batteries are weak or there may be an alternator issue. Load test was fine at the shop...

Happens all the time for me when it's super cold but I don't drive far so the battery doesn't get much time to charge. It's -43 this morning.

Every time it's below 30F it does it... I put a full charge in both batteries, but it still does it, I'm going to have the alternator checked.

One trick I do is to permanently mount a battery tender in the engine bay and plug it into a double ended cord along with the block heater. This way the batteries get a little warm up/top up before every start.

My mechanic suggested a solar tender that plugs into the lighter port. Not sure if it would be as effective, but will try it.

I had my battery replaced by the dealer Nov 2019 not long after I bought the truck. The battery saver mode went off about 15 times in a month. I thought it went bad because the truck sat on the lot for about 6 months but it started again as soon as it got real cold this winter again. The dealer here installs a battery tender on all they sell. When the block heater is plugged in the tender is too. It's been real cold here lately.

Yeah, that's chilly! I experienced -50 once in Lowville, NY. That's damn cold !!!

+41 at my house this morning then got up to 75 . Spent 35 years driving my own rigs , when it got that cold I would be dumping a gal of anti gel in each tank and wrapping my furl filters . Praying to GOD I didn't jell up and be sitting by the road waiting with many other trucks for a hook to take me to a shop and heat up the filters . Never happened to me figured the cost for a couple of gal of Howes was well worth it

Anti gel is essential here in winter
