Has anyone else lost their ability to start the truck after running hazard lights for more than an hour? Happened to me when the truck was new, and just yesterday. Seems ridiculous to me for a dual battery system, especially since all lights are led. 2020 6.7l ho

An hour on battery's that have a terrible reserve capacity its almost expected for them not to last an hour with the flashers. Especially since the flashers go through the can bus system.

Factory batteries are junk. Mine have left me unable to start many times.

Will the Noco boost last a few years, as long as it is charged periodically? I may use it once a year. Just wondering with the steep price, and or maybe I should get bigger truck batteries with much larger reserve. Thank you

Yes. I charge mine every other month and after I use it; mostly for other peoples cars. Only used it on mine once. Have had it for three years. Y

Great! For my purposes 3 years would be long enough.

They are the best on the market as far as i am concerned i have had mine for 3-4 years and its great even on 12V loaders/ dozers and back hoes

You could probably go down one model, but I've had a few no crank with the smaller one so when this one dropped a little last Prime Day I grabbed it. The other will be relegated to the car.

What’s not expected is pulling over to change a tire on an interstate, and not being able to start your truck because you used your hazards for an hour or less! Hazards are a requirement not an exception. @RamCares wtf

I see that the Noco Boost X comes in quite a few amp options. Whats is the lowest amps (smallest model) that would reliably do a single cold start on a Cummins 6.7, assuming the Noco is kept fully charged? Would you also need to factor in capacity for the grid heater preheat In cold weather?

An hour to change the tire what made it take that long? I would leave it idle if stopped for that long.

GB150 should do the job. I would double tap the start button rather than letting the grid heater run.

I’m done with these ***** batteries!
What’s the best batteries you guys have tried?
I definitely want to go AGM with plenty of AH’s and reserve capacity. I plan on adding a lot more accessories, and I NEED to be able to use flashers without the engine running to stop at multiple houses for my work (heavy traffic, and I work on the side of the road). Sometimes I need flashers for an hour in addition to my safety cones. My last ram NEVER had a problem running flashers

That’s the size I bought in the last prime day. Rated for up to a 7L diesel.

Try and find a dual purpose battery. Starting batteries aren’t intended for that type of use and once they go dead they are rarely the same afterwards.

This is an example of a dual purpose group 94R. 81AH is pretty good.

Thank you, I was looking at those. $700 is a hefty price but those batteries can withstand discharge cycles, with a higher reserve etc. I may add a third battery (RV style) with an iso circuit to help the longevity of the two new batteries, plus redirect the draw on engine off accessories.

How many amps are you trying to draw with the engine off?

I think there are better ways deal with using power than a 3rd battery, but it depends on usage too.

Do you have dual alternators? You may have a recharging issue if your trips between sites are short.

Yes, I have dual alternators. As far as amperage draw with engine off, right now it’s minimal (crash cam) with low voltage shut off. I now need the crash cam to NEVER turn off since thefts have been high. In addition to that I’ll be using a high amperage draw electric air compressor 1” hose reel. I do have a lot of short trips, and sometimes leave the engine running in between, to watch the battery voltage climb, so I can safely shut it down. I do not want to have to worry about this anymore though, the stock batteries are trash. Lots of cranking amps with hardly any reserve.

Duracell AGM (made by east penn) from batteries plus or Sam’s club is The best battery value IMHO. Batteries plus you can save money buying online and picking up in store.

Stock batteries are trash, but it also sounds like you’re expecting to not have to idle much for high electrical loads and that’s not going to work well without a decent separate battery setup.

It sounds like you may have to just idle more, and possibly enable the voltage sensing auto idle up feature with AlfaOBD.

Does the crash cam transmit the video?
