Had some issues with my DPF recently and figured it would be a good idea to monitor my truck stats more closely. Been doing some research and wondering what you guys use? Both look good but did some searching on this forum and did not see a comparison. Did see there are some issues with the Insight and 2025's but I have a 2022. Let me know. Thanks.

I’m partial to the Banks iDash and their Stealthpod mount. In my opinion, the Banks is a cleaner and more seamless integration into the cab interior than the CTS3, but both are nice units. Keep in mind that 2025’s are using the new Atlantis CAN architecture so these monitors might not read everything until Banks and Edge get their systems updated. IMG_0195.jpeg

I've only ever used Banks, both the old "screen" style similar to the CTS3, which was mounted to the windshield with a suction-cup mount, and now the new IDash with the Stealthpod in my 2024. Between the two I much prefer the look, integration, layout, simplicity, size, and interface/controls of the new IDash. I'm resistant to change so I wasn't sure I'd like the new gauge design but IMO, its a HUGE improvement. The old style Banks used the small touchscreen similar to the CTS3, and having already used that type for several years, I like the Banks IDash much better. It shows me everything I wanna see plus about 14,897,346 things I don't need to see (and wouldn't understand even if I saw it.)

I was thinking that the Banks integration looks better... I'm guessing that both will have the same information available.

Banks all the way having owned both devices. Edge has terrible customer service, and when I owned the CTS3, it would frequently freeze, and the touch screen was clunky most of the time for me. I wanted to like it, but couldn't.

Edge customer service can be painful, but so can Banks.

Everything banks sells is overpriced, so you’ve got that to consider too. I mean someone’s got to pay for their expansive marketing :-)

I haven’t checked in a while but last I looked the CTS3 had more data available to display, and had a more detailed display with chose-able digits.

I have to say Edge as you have multiple layouts available plus if you use the one I normally do you have 16 gauges on one screen vs 8 for the Banks. This is my second Edge first one I had was on the 15 Ecodiesel I had. It had a quirk once or twice, so far this one hasn’t had any.

Banks has an active marketing machine that’s for sure. But we’ll clearly never agree on what’s best and that’s ok. Personal preference is ultimately what it’ll come down to.

Yup. Some might testify that the price is high because Banks is better, but even if its better, its still overpriced. I've been happy with all of the Banks gear I've had over the years but YIKES its expensive. The damn Pedal Monster is up to $350 now! I want one, but not that bad I don't think.

I've been very happy with my CTS3. Buy the pillar mount on Amazon and thank me later, the suction cup is terrible. I've had zero issues out of mine, it loads super quick upon startup and shuts right down when I turn the truck off. I like the different screens I can toggle through, I have different gauge views for different things (daily driving, towing, etc).

I did have a little trouble when I first installed it getting it to update to current software version. It took a while over wifi. Other than that, no issue.

I’ll be the first to bad mouth the Banks marketing machine, but I find the I Dash Pro with their stealth mount to be a superior product to the edge monitor. I’ve ran both, and Banks has definitely won me over.

The app interface on my IPhone is pretty slick, and the install is very clean. I’d highly recommend it.

What is it about the Banks you like better? I haven’t ran it, but honestly can’t see one single advantage to the Banks over the CTS3…. And that’s got noting to do with it being Banks.

The CTS3 is definitely not without its flaws, but offers more parameters, better display options, and more accurate readings when desired with decimals vs rounding.

Is the app interface with the phone for programming? I can’t imagine wanting to use an app on my phone for a gauge while driving.

First and foremost, the cleanliness of the actual mount in the cab is superior to my eye. I think the giant screen of the edge looks cheap when placed against the rest of the very nice interior of these trucks. The stealth pod coupled with the smaller unit is superior to my eye.

I have never been a fan of the touch screen on the edge monitors. It’s slow, clunky, and takes more time than I’d like to make adjustments. Especially when cold. I also find it quite obnoxious to look at when driving at night. Probably all personal preferences.

As far as decimal points on the readings, the banks unit does give decimal points depending on the parameter being monitored. I’m not exactly sure which parameters you’re needing the decimal point on, but so far it’s had them on all the things I’d like to keep an eye on. I’m not particularly worried about a decimal point on an EGT or IAT reading.

The app interface is for setting up the gauge as desired, opposed to using the buttons on the unit itself. It’s extremely user friendly, and allows you to use it in conjunction with a pedal monster if you so desire. I suppose you could use the app as a gauge while driving, but that’s kinda silly when it’s just a mirror of the Idash itself.

Also allows for automatic updates to the software everytime you connect the app to the device. If there’s a flash update available, it’ll do that while you drive.

It’s definitely user preference as the banks looks cheap and out of place compared to the dash IMO.

The CTS3 certainly doesn’t like the cold. The CTS2 was better in that regards, as well as some others.

The only parameter I think the decimal point is needed on is the regen %age, which I’ve read the Banks doesn’t allow for. Maybe they have changed that with an update.

You are correct, the regen percentage is a whole number without decimal point.

That’s one parameter that I just don’t see being “exact” enough to justify a decimal point anyways. A whole number is more than adequate to monitor where the DPF is sitting, IMO.
