Aux camera

Any update on an adapter from an industry standard 5-pin camera connector to the proprietary 12-pin Ram plug?

I tried ordering a 2500 today and was told that the trailer camera wiring prep (code XFQ) is not available. Has anyone else heard this? Can I have the dealer add it when the truck arrives?

I don't want to buy the Mopar camera, but I'm hoping I can add an aftermarket camera using the 12-pin plug at some point.

Since when?

Is it possible the trim package(s) you have selected don't allow it? I think you have to have the 360* camera group.

Adding it now or later would still require the camera package on the truck.

A different dealer was able to add it at MSRP of $515. Since I'd still have to pay for the camera, and the only Mopar version is terrible, I decided to leave it off. If someone comes up with a way to add an aftermarket camera I'll consider having the wiring added later by the dealer.

Imop, you made a smart decision. I wish I didn't pay for the $400 add on that i pd for the capability, total waste of my money. Between the big bulky wire harnesses and the junk camera and the capability your over$1000 for something your never going to be happy with, especially since you can't leave it on. I'm glad I returned the $500 camera system, looked like junk on my 33' fiver. It's sad that they won't do a wireless system. It should be just as simple as using a receiver to get a signal from a camera, ( like a wireless mouse with laptop). Oh well, maybe there listening that we've all resorted to using our furrion

Been looking at the Rostra tailgate relocation kit. I like it as it is a simple plug & play into the existing tailgate plug. I especially like it as the wire is a small diameter coax, VS the big bulky kit from Ram. That kit has a horrendous amount of thick wire, brackets etc.
Back to the Rostra kit: It only comes with a 14.5 foot wire which would work great for our Lance camper.
We also have a horse trailer and the Rostra wire is would be too short. I looked at the stock FAKRA plug & got the number to try to search it out. Found the plug but there are no guts inside for the coax, only the plastic housing. My thinking here is to buy the Rostra kit, then a length of coax and new ends so I can make my own 30 foot cable and camera assy.
Does anyone have information on the FAKRA plugs which include the inside? I contacted Rostra to see if they would make me a custom length, but did not get a reply.

Thanks in advance for any input, John
