Is anyone using Autel Diagnostic tools?
Does anyone have experience in using Autel diagnostic tools?

Is anyone using Autel Diagnostics tablets?
Does anyone have first hand working knowledge of Autel diagnostic tablets?

Depends what you want to know or do with it, I have one, it works for basic things on my various cars, does very little on my Ram beyond tell me fault codes.

What model are you using. I have Innova OBII reader but would like a complete diagnostic tablet too indicate what the problem is and to repair said problem. Plus enabling and disabling, resetting and coding key fobs should I need too. Thanks for responding.

I’ve been using Innova OBII reader for years but I’m looking too get deeper in the weeds for diagnostics, repairs enabling and disabling features as well as coding keys should the need arise.
Thanks for responding.

What year truck are we talking about?
I have an Autel tablet. I bought the tablet for work on my own personal vehicles. A 2013 Jeep Wrangler and a 2017 Lexus RX. I have a few folks that I can assist with the tablet as long as they don't have security gateways. When we got the 2020 Ram I was interested in what I could do with it. Just plugging it in, I can read codes and some data. Can't clear codes or make any changes due to the gateway. In order to do anything else you must have a current data subscription with Autel, which is about $800/year. You must also register with AutoAuth which is $50/yr for each brand of vehicle you want to access.
Once you are registered and up to date, you plug into the vehicle and connect to wifi. The tablet will interface with AutoAuth and allow access through the gateway and then you can do all of the diagnostic and configuration functions of the tablet. If you want to do FOBs that takes additional hardware and software from Autel. Same with TPMS.
Even with a Kaodtek bypass installed, if your annual registrations are not current, you can't do anything besides read codes, because the tablet wants to interface with AutoAuth to start the session.

For older vehicles without a gateway, the tablet is great. There is so much you can see and do.
With a gateway, you'll have to decide if it's worth the money for subscriptions and access.

Good luck.

Personally I have all the latest and greatest with Autoauth for the Ram but I have this for other vehicles too where I make my money, I have the Ultra unit that comes with the oscilloscope but the gateway on my Ram 2024 3500 is insane for instance I cant change the TPMS threshold or update my long range tank or do the gear indicator upgrade next to-the odo meter. But I can read and clear all faults and analyse the fault codes, reset adaptions , relearn gearbox, reset service.
I have to admit I have not spent hours playing and trying to figure out the instrument cluster updates and have a feeling there may be something in reprogramming the control units but because I am using my truck like crazy I dont want to cause something that makes it unserviceable.

Hello,
Thank you for the info. I have a 2024, 3500 limited SRW and a 024 Land Rover Metropolitan that I don’t want to have services done by the thieves! I’m an old timer and I’m sick with a diseases one of which is in my brain. I’ve worked on cars and trucks my whole life except for covered maintenance or when I’m too ill to do it myself. I was hoping to purchase an Autel tablet to perform any issues down the road should the arise by connecting to the vehicle, reading codes and or info as too what needs to be addressed. I’m also looking to enable/disable features, I’d like to ad a second alternator to the truck and enable it as well. I contacted Autel an they suggested I look at the AutelIM IM 608 PRO. What gets me is that researching this tablet I found they’re discounting Ed models! Not my idea of a good investment! An $800 a year fee for my vehicles and $50 per unit seems like a moneymaker for Autel. I’m all for capitalism but to want to do my own repairs should they arise and or enable disable, program fobs if need be will give me severe black and blue marks from my wife beating me, lol. I would imagine the $800 fee must be for each year you own the tablet too and not just when you need too use the tablet. I don’t know which way to go! I would like a tablet that can diagnose what if any the problem may be should one arise, purchase the parts and install them and make any necessary programming needed, clean my hands and be done with it. I must look further into this. I don’t want to spend $1500 dollars for a tablet to move around my garage. I believe you know where I’m coming from. I do appreciate your input and thank you.

I don’t want to use the tablet for anything other than my truck, 2024 RAM Cummins 3500 SRW Limited and my wife’s Land Rover Metropolitan. I do not like dealerships for anything other than what’s required and paid for in the sale price. With PRS’ information with additional costs gives me pause. I do want to repair my vehicles when needed but I don’t want to make annual fees to do so. I may be wishing in one hand and crapping in the other with my wants. Having a tablet to plug into the vehicle, diagnose the problem, repair the problem and be done with it may be something that exists only in my minds wants! I dunno!? Thank you for your input though. Any additional food for thought will only have me making a more informed purchase decision. Thanks all.

P.S. I’d also like to add that I’d like to stay away from apps going through my phone if this is in fact the way it operates. They may work well but I like privacy and encrypted devices assist in staying private. Most apps downloaded to electronic devises, phones/iPads, give permission to those supplying the app access to your entire phone usage, numbers, contacts etc.

There is a diagnostic tool that gas free lifetime updates not sure how it works or how it will handle the Ram.
The Autel is very good for the Land Rover
