April incentive changes?

Dealers like when you finance. Dealers get kickbacks when you finance through them if you keep the loan for more than a few months. Never mention you are buying with cash until after you negotiate the price.

I take it you have never purchased a vehicle before without financing it?
You can always get a better deal when paying cash!

Google Fu will help you here. Here is just one video.. There are many more. I have bought cars with cash. But that was when interest rates were high. If I do, I don't tell them until I have locked in the price.

If you have good credit, a loan is cheap money right now. My investments are doing much better. In the end just do what works for you.

This is hilarious!
Paying cash used to be the thing decades ago, dealers liked the "no hassle" with cash buyers but things changed.
I used to be in sales a long time ago...

"paying cash" is not a thing anymore. And it certainly does NOT get you a better deal. I also worked for a dealership for a few months... They are far more willing to play ball when your financing because they make more money. If your paying cash, they don't make nearly as much. They also will not give you a truck for the same price as financing, because they won't make anything. This is the actual reality, paying cash is not a flex.

I was told only $9999 cash or it has to be declared. Yes, certified check is next best.

How do dealers treat it when you finance through your own bank? I have read where you should get your own financing in place, but is that more of a negotiating tactic to see if they can beat it?

I have honestly only gone through a bank once, the dealership has typically always had very competitive rates so i'm not sure. That being said - i doubt its as good of a deal since they aren't getting their piece of the pie.

I got preapproved for a great rate and gave them the chance to beat it. They did.

18% and 22% off a vehicle where and how.....

I got a little over 22% off MSRP on my current order that I placed Jan. 28, 2021. I got that because I purchased it
without financing and I got better incentives because of that!

Up here in Canada the dealer does not make any money financing the vehicle. The dealer puts the loan through one
of the local banks that will give the best rate. You can not get 0% or 2.99% financing through the bank so you actually
loose the cash incentives to subsidize the low rate through the banks.

Who ever says that you can get as good of price with financing a truck as you can purchasing outright does not know what they are talking about!

But anyway, who cares, I got a great deal on my truck and I own it the day I drive it off the lot.

In my experience the dealer doesn't really care if they get cash. I've negotiated my price up front without talking about cash or financing. At 6.5% below invoice I'm not sure there would be tons of room for the dealer to give a cash discount. But like others have said, the dealer gets an additional spiff on financing - in most cases provided the loan is in place for six months - that's why sometimes the dealer will give another discount to finance through them with the "gentleman's agreement" that you won't pay off the loan before 6 months. The dealer really doesn't care if he gets his "cash" through you or the finance company. He's getting his $$ either way. But by financing through the dealer he's getting an extra bonus.

Yeah, could be a Canada - USA thing. Apples and oranges on how they structure their pricing/deals/discounts etc.

I clearly don't know what I'm talking about. Placed my order end of 2019. MSRP was $103K and negotiated price was $20K off the MSRP so about 20% off. Financed the truck and paid it off 6 months later. Alberta Canada.
