I'm sure this has been discussed other places, but I didn't find it. I'd like to perform my own fuel filter replacement on my 2020 2500 Cummins. I believe that as long as you can document that the work was performed on schedule with proper parts you should be fine. Moss-Magneson act apply here? I've never had a new enough truck to have a warranty and with the fuel pump recall ( still trying to get my parts) I don't want to give them a reason to every fight a warranty claim. I've always done my own work from basic to more major-radiators, water pumps, distributors, carbs, fuel pumps/tanks,engine swaps, transmissions and clutches, transfercases etc., so I'm not concerned about actually doing the work, just what the repercussions could be. Thanks for any insight

Keep a log of maintenance preformed and receipts of products purchased. You’ll be fine.

thank you, for me it's as much about self reliance as it is about the price, but the dealer definitely seems steep on this one

Yup. Just keep records and you’ll be fine. I keep digital records of my filter and oil purchases, and log the maintenance in my Ram app and in a spreadsheet on my computer.

I keep the top flap of the fuel filter boxes and the oil filter box. Write the dates on them and staple the receipts with the oil I purchased along with it. Each of my vehicles has a file in the cabinet. If any question comes up I can grab what they are looking for. I’d suggest sticking with oem filters through warranty. There are cheaper places than the dealer.

Thanks everyone for the insight. I hadn't thought of using the Ram app as an additional way to keep records. I've started a folder for receipts records and photos. I plan to keep spare filters with me as emergency items also. I appreciate the responses

i take photos of everything new/used and include them and description of the maintenance in an email it to myself with brief maintenance description as the subject. i also include a photograph of the mileage. all the photos have exif data 'proving' the date/time of the shot as well.

easy to search in gmail if i ever wonder when my last service was.
